I was curious if anyone has ever won an online contest?  It doesn't necessarily have to be golf related.  I was wondering how you were contacted about winning and receiving your prize?

The reason I ask, is that I think I placed 4th in Golf Week's "Bracket Challenge" for last week's match play tournament.  On a whim, I joined the GolfWRX group and ended up placing 1st in the GolfWRX group (Bragging rights!) and 4th in the overall standings.  I triple checked the results because I never win things like this.  Everything that I can see on the contest website is that I really did place 4th overall!

According to the "prize list" the 4th place finisher wins a SeeMore putter and a year subscription to Golf Week.  As of today, however, I haven't received any communication from Golf Week about placing 4th or asking about contact information etc.

Do you think I should wait a few more days before I investigate further?  I don't want to sound greedy, but if I did indeed place 4th overall.....it would be pretty sweet if I actually got the prize

Any thoughts or past experiences with this sort of thing?!?

Yes. It turns out I won the Nigerian lottery even though I can't remember entering it. All I had to do was send off my bank details and they will transfer the money for a minimal fee. Lucky for me, this guys cousin will bring the money over himself if I send another cheque. Talk about being a stroke of luck. Well, at least I stood more chance of winning this than ever getting anything from GolfWrx. Best of all, I'm not on their mailing list either.

But yea, I've won a few small things over the years. T-Shirts , key chains, that kinda thing.

I think I always "got" contacted , email or PM for shipping details.

Nope. Though I was a finalist for the "look and play like a pro" contest golfwrx held a few weeks ago. Obviously didn't win though and it seems a bit strange that the thread for the contest just up and disappeared.

I think because it went to a third round and people were starting to talk about things not to be discussed yet.

Thought this kind of stuff was awarded at the end of the fantasy season. Hence the 4th overall not 4th for one week. Maybe I misunderstood but thats just me.

I have won a few pizzas from Papa Johns, a set of irons and a driver cover on GolfWRX, a month long membership to Cannongate golf (Bentwater Golf Course), and if you count beta testing games, I have beta tested about 8 of those.

Just stick with it, eventually you will win something.

Yesterday morning I was contacted by a rep from Golf Week about receiving my "prize".  All they said is that I "won more than a subscription", however their website shows SeeMore putters for 1st-4th place.

i won allen iverson the answer t-shirts from reebok back in the late 90s.  my mom used them as pj's.
i was chosen to receive and review some $400 in-ear monitors (fancy term for earphones).  they were awesome, i used them for a few months and sold on ebay. lol
nothing golf-related tho.

I won the papa johns pick the coin toss Super Bowl contest.  Though it was a fifty fifty chance and they picked heads for me.

Just got back from the Wrx-ier sweepstakes.  Previously if I didn't have bad luck then I would have no luck at all.  I was always skeptical before but definately not anymore.
