I assume you are referring to the irons based on the reference to TM 2.0's. To answer your question, yes, the finish will wear to some extent. Think about it: the club heads are stainless steel, which is silver (metal) colored. The black coating seems to be impregnated into the steel somewhat, but mostly it's on the surface so when abrasion takes place, the finish will be scratched and eventually removed. I have a set of G25's and Tour Gorge wedges, and can see some finish wear after a few rounds. The color is sort of gray, so the wear doesn't look as bad as when a black iron wears (like an Adams for example). I recently picked up some Cleveland CG7 Black Pearl club heads and built them up. These clubs have a shinier finish than the Ping's, maybe because the heads were polished before the color treatment was added, where Ping looks to have media blasted the heads. At any rate, the finish seems somewhat comparable. The lower half of the face and sole of the CG7's show a fair bit of color loss, but the clubs still look decent in my opinion. I expect the Pings to wear similarly.
