What a player, is there anyone better at the moment?

I'm hoping he'll still be at Spurs.. I am not looking forward to a summer of speculation, although if we make the Champions League then that should make a difference.

There are very few clubs that could afford him..

Seriously fellas, stop drinking the koolaid. Best player in Europe? RVP is going to run him close for best player in England, never mind Europe. He will get offloaded for about 45 million this year, they'll realise they bought a one trick pony and he will be back in the EPL by 2016 for half the price. The spuds should take the money, strengthen every line and then maybe they can repeatedly finish above the Gunners every year.

Bale has been wonderful / magical over the last six to eight weeks, but if a six-to-eight-week spell makes him the equal of Messi, then I'm the Pied Piper.  

Bale is a great player, no question, but when comparisons with Messi start, that's putting him in the same class as Pele, Maradona, and Cruyff.  He's not in that class and never will be.

I don't think a lot of you read the original post. He is the form player at the moment. Comparing him to messi is just ridiculous. In the golfing world I'm sure a lot of you will agree that Sneds is the form player of the moment but no-one is comparing him to Hogan, Jack or Tiger.

Sorry -- I left something out.  I was listening to DriveTime today (there is one soccer channel available on satellite radio here in the States and it carries Durham and Gough's program) and Durham actually did make this parallel before being "corrected" by a caller.

I think he was just "playing radio" and trying to provoke a reaction.  His head's gone if he really thinks that Bale is Messi's equal!

Durham changes his stance on topics week by week and then irate cockney taxi drivers call in to shout at Durham, all the while he's cackling in the background while the cabbie is being charged £1.50/min for the call.

Keep in mind the lack of options.  Meaning, it's the only choice.  There is one channel devoted to soccer on Sirius / XM, and I'm happy to have that!  It just so happens that program is on when I leave my office for lunch.  Beggars can't be choosers, so I take what I can get.

Durham is a knucklehead but I find Gough funny.  He makes me laugh.

Solid player with promise, but yet to mature. He's been overshadowed by Wilshere at Arsenal. Give him 2 more years with more experience of the Welsh captaincy and he will be the rock of Arsenal's midfield

Wenger has basically given that team away over the last 2-3 years. Lots of quality been sold. Nasri, Fabregas and I can't believe RVP is at Utd.

I edited my post above about Ramsey because i left out a 'NOT'.... I don't think he is close to Bale at the moment. Sorry if there was any confusion.

I agree that Ramsey has potential. It seems like they are struggling to find his best position at the moment. Some of his best performances have been more in a holding role similar to how Arteta is being used. He has tons of energy and heart, that's for sure.

Hopefully Arsenal can keep their current starters and add some depth over the next few years.

It may sound harsh, but if Aaron Ramsey is going to be the heart of the Arsenal midfield we are in a world of hurt. His concentration and simple inability to do the right thing with the ball are killing him and the team. I had high hopes for the kid but he's not cutting the mustard at all.

I was having a mini giraffe when I said bale was a one trick pony. He's like a 2 trick pony. Great to watch right now however and he will look even faster in la liga next year I imagine.

Hopefully all week the Arsenal defenders are being drilled on simply keeping the ball on Bale's RIGHT SIDE... It's the same story with Arjen Robben. Any defender letting them on their left peg should be docked pay.

I have thrown things at the TV when Ramsey turns the ball over with one of his 'trademark' backheels.....

I feel bad for you Arsenal fans; Cole, Nasri, Fabregas, Van Persie. Seems like world class players leave every season. If you don't make top 4, you have to wonder if Cazorla is next, and if they can hold onto Wilshire long-term. As far as Bale, I think Ronaldo may be in better form at the moment, especially with the quality of teams/competitions he is playing in. However Bale is currently best in-form in the BPL if you ask me. After moving more centrally he's been an absolute beast. If Spurs fall out of top four Tottenham will be signing some more papers with Madrid this summer, but I think they can attract some real talent if Bale decides to stay. As a Chelsea fan, it has been a rough run of form for us ever since that United game at the bridge. Hopefully Rafa will figure this stuff out before we miss Europe next year.

That goal this morning was unbelievable.  Simple and clinical, definitely a guy "on form."

Poor Arsenal, I did not see much after the two quick goals, but boy did they get diced this morning.  The selling has seemingly truly caught up to them now.
