Is was measured on the mizuno shaft system and it recommended the xp s300 first then the pxi 5.5. I want to hit the ball higher and was wondering if the pxi will give me a similar flight to the xp cause I like the look of the pxi better.  My club hasn't got either to hit yet.  Thanks.

The s300 is a good bit stiffer than the PXi 5.5.  Did your swing change much between fittings?  Either way, the PXi will probably give you a higher ball flight than the XP.

I have to ask this because I see people mix this up all the time (esp in ebay ads & BST ads).  Do you really mean Dynamic Gold XP, or do you mean the more common (esp w/Mizuno) Dynalite Gold XP?  If it's the Dynalite, the XP's should launch higher as they are designed with a softer tip for a higher trajectory. By the way, I wouldn't get hung up on the "look" of your iron shafts.

Not sure that is true. From what I've read from TT/Project X - Pxi is to be the same FCM as the regular Project X (just lighter), therefore Pxi 5.5 would = 6.0 FCM. Whereas S300 = 5.8 FCM. I can't confirm that from personal experience though.

Did the Mizuno shaft fit system recommend Dynamic Gold XP S300 or Dynalite Gold XP S300?   Different profiles completely.   Mizuno shafts a lot of their irons with the Dynalite Gold XP shafts so that recommendation comes up a lot.

Seems unlikely that the shaft optimizer would recommend a shaft that Mizuno doesn't even offer as a custom option.

Mr mtgjr in answer to your question I'm not sure. Didn't realize there were two xp shafts one being the dynalite the other dynamic.  If I had to guess I would lean to the dynalite.  I was either putting them in the ap2 or x hot pros.

Only nike and TM offer the dynamic gold xp.......lower flight than pxi.....very similar to SL but not as boardy.....I was set on pxi until I hit px95....tight and light!

DG XP in mizuno means Dynalite Gold. They dont offer the Dynamic Gold XP. The pxi will be a bit stiffer and a bit lower launching than the Dynalite gold XP S300. I got fit for the same ones and the XP produced a higher softer landing ball flight for me while giving me excellent feel.

I've been playing the Dynalite Gold XP in my MP-H4 3 iron for a couple of months.  So far I really like it and will continue to give it a thorough vetting before choosing a shaft for a set of MP-64s.  Feels great, softer tip but very stable, and a nice user friendly mid weight at 117 grams.  Haven't hit the PXi yet, but will soon.

I would be interested in more feeback on this shaft because some say the flight is high, others say it's mid.  Some say tip is too soft, some say it's not at all. For me it's been mid-high, maybe due to the higher launch H4 head combo.  No ballooning so far.



Interestingly, Titleist testing shows it to be lower launch / spin than PXi.

Go with the XP shafts and some Mizuno irons, IMO better than the two sets you are looking at.

Sneaky short I'm not a mizuno fan but I will take a serious look at them. Cheeks thanks for the input I can't believe the tests show the pxi with a higher launch then the xp s 300. I'm going to track down a pxi to hit.

Ok not that anyone is still watching this thread but I figure I better finish what I started. I have hit both the dynalite xp s 300 and the pxi 5.5. The xp has a higher ball flight no question.....  Was digging the mizuno mp 64 and also the Jxc 825 was rather impressive.

PX are usually fairly lower flight. I thought the selling point was that they get kind of flat, where a normal DG has more of a curved flight to it?

I was just on the DNA system and it also recommended PXi shafts. It's strange...since they released, I've never seen a normal PX recommended by the fitting system anymore.

I just switched from Dynalight XP s300 to PXi 5.5 last week in my JPX 800 Pros.  I actually felt like I was getting higher ball flight...

The Titleist chart is done using a robot...not humans, so if we all swing the same way as that robot we would all get the same results. Good place to start, like the optimizer, but nothing beats actually trying them.

Actually Ping and Callaway now offer the Dynamic Gold XP. Tried it in the X Hot Pro....very good combo. Performance is not close to Dynalite XP....somewhere between standard DG and DGSL.

Maybe in terms of feel, but as far as I know, an S300 as a FCM of 5.8 and the PXi 5.5 has an FCM of 6.0.

I think you mean the Dynalite Gold XP. The Dynamic Gold XP is only a TM and Nike offering (I think) at the moment.

I think you mean the Dynalite Gold XP. The Dynamic Gold XP is only a TM and Nike offering (I think) at the moment.

Nope, Titleist has them as well. My buddy is a fitter for Titleist and has factory installed DG XPs (not dynalite) in his AP2s.

For me the DG Gold XP in Rocketbladez were INSANELY high launch - higher than DLG XP in Mizunos in fact. I thought they were nothing at all like DG or DGSL - closer to something like Nippon 1050. The ones I hit were in my Pro's clubs, and I've since replaced them for him with Nippon 950, which he likes much better.

It doesn't look that way looking at the DFSI numbers from Hireko.  These have been pretty accurate for me when comparing known shafts.  The PXi 5.5 is closer to the R300 of both dynamic gold and dynalite gold xp.  The dynalite gold xp plays to about the same flex as the dynamic gold with higher launch.  It's a pretty stable shaft.
