i own a d2 and demoed both versions before buying the d2....
as you both mentioned, it is swing specific. however there can be differences, as far as my swing goes.
generally speaking i felt like 9 times out of 10 when hitting the d2 my shots traveled maybe 10-15 yards further, including miss hits and all off centered balls.
but that 1 time out of 10 when i was able to hit it clear on the screws with the d3 it was on par or even slightly further than the d2. that solely may be attributed to my swing, and if i could hit it perfectly every time it would be different..... but. for me the distances were negligible when both hit square on the screws.
and i felt safer and more confident with 9/10 as opposed to the single shot.
just my honest observations and opinions. the next guy responding could say the opposite

Great response. I figured that would be the case. The D3 looks beautiful at address and to be honest the D2 doesn't look that much bigger. Forgiveness is key. I am also looking for the solid feel not that hollow feel that I get from the bigger heads at times.

In my humble opinion.......910d3 longer than 910d2.................913 d2 longer than 913 d3

Are we talking center strikes or mishits? I have a hard time believing that one is much longer than the other on center strikes. Off the toe or heel I would expect the D2 to be slightly longer, but I can't imagine by a whole lot. The distance should be pretty much equal between the two assuming you are hitting the same spot on the club face with the same launch conditions. Atleast that's what my logic is leading me to believe...

For some people, the D2 model will be better than the D3 model. For some people the opposite. It is simply a matter of launch angle and spin rate. If you get properly fitted with a good launch monitor, the one that is fit for you with the correct shaft should be longer. The D3 spins less than the D2.
