USTdesignshaft.jpg

This is an amazing opportunity for GolfWRXers....

UST Mamiya would like to offer the GolfWRX community an opportunity to contribute creatively with their own unique graphic design concept for an all new shaft family platform. The new line will consist of wood, hybrid and iron shafts that will potentially be used in major golf club brands around the world.

TO ENTER, POST THE FOLLOWING IN A REPLY BELOW. The design concept should include the following:
  • Shaft Name
  • Graphic Idea
  • Colors
  • Type of Finish (Flat, Glossy, etc.)
Remember this will go onto a very small canvas but please do not worry about that. That will be our jobs to figure out how we put your concept onto a golf shaft. UST Mamiya will internally pick the top 10 concepts. The “TOP 10” will receive a shaft of their choice.

Upon entering this contest, UST Mamiya will incorporate this design concept in the manner that we see fit.

Entry into this contest gives UST Mamiya the license to use as it sees fit.

There are NO restrictions so give us your best shot! Entry is open now and will close on or about 2/28/13 depending on entry volume.

Good luck!

Quick question - do we need to come up with our best design and then submit it, or are multiple entries per person allowed?

I think a shaft that had US army digital camo pattern on the butt section but as it traveled to the tip turned into a matte gray color. You could use the name classified (font like used on a rubber stamp)! Make it happen

  • Shaft Name:   Diamondback
  • Graphic Idea:  Australian Male Black Diamondback Rattle snake pattern
  • Colors: ION Black / Yellow
  • Type of Finish:  Glossy
Just happend to be watching the animal Planet show after dropping my son off to school and they are showing different snakes. I see the name of the NEW UST Mamiya RECOIL  line of shafts and I think snakes recoil before they strike so this name could be and extension of that line or a follow up to the RECOIL Line  maybe a different version of this shaft this name would be perfect.

PS: I'm trying to find a picture so you can see the brilliant colors and pattern. I think it would be awesome. As soon as I find what I just seen on TV I'll post a pic so you can see the colors and pattern.

Here's the color: or something in a bright neon yellow as the background color with the rattlesnake pattern on top. You could almost do a Matte yellow with glossy pattern on top. I'm sure once it's laid out you could see which would work better all gloss or partial matte/gloss?
Posted Image

Here's the pattern or something similar:
Posted Image

Maybe something like the snake in the bottom right with the thin line patterns?
Posted Image

PAINT DESCRIPTION:
What I'm trying to accomplish is #1 this= Color (which is very hard to show with white background) and snake scales showing the way the picture looks mixing in at but end with some gloss black diamondback snake designs, while incorporating the last pictures bottom right snakes criss cross thin lines in black in backgrounds of basically a three layer paint job.. then when you get passed the midway point fade into solid Neon or Fluorescent yellow or whatever you want to call the first pics yellow color.

PS: If I could figure out how to use this photoshop program I just downloaded maybe I could show what I mean on a shaft. Anyone? Bueller?

I've always liked the idea of a shaft line called "eclipse" with different profiles..... "Lunar eclipse" low launch low spin w/ glossy white with faint craters by grip fading to black by club head maybe a couple stars. "Solar eclipse" high launch mid spin w/ high gloss yellow and red "sun like" fading to black. Then maybe "total eclipse" for the irons interpreting both concepts. Mentioned earlier for total eclipse look.

This idea should eclipse your competition and mine! :)

Shaft name: Align
Graphic: Vertical white lines (at half degree increments) at base of shaft to help direct eye at setup to alignment of driver head (need multiple lines because heads move around these days). Too many shaft graphics can cause confusion at address and everything is about alignment these days; just look at putter technology (Odyssey and TM).
Color: Flat black shaft with muted white lines at base, The word "Align" can be in various colors depending on driver color scheme.

Avenger (yeah, I know licensing would make this nearly impossible)

Matte green, with purple accents (low launch)
OR
Gloss Red and Gold (high launch)

Joke Design: Blackbird

Matte black, with afterburner flames on the butt end (flames in iridescent finish)
Bonus points if it's higher launch than any other shaft ever made, and leaks oil on the tee box.

This is awesome!!! Thanks UST for bringing us a fun and creative giveaway!
  • Shaft Name: AREA 51 in Green, Red, and Black (akin to the Axivcore series).  This will be a lightweight 51g shaft.
  • Graphic Idea:  Nuclear bunket style metal plating.  Graphics could use rough and broken "cement-like" shapes starting from the end of grip through mid section of the shaft with a starburst fade to black or another complimentary color (yellow for green, purple for blue, gunmetal grey for black).  The "metal plates" could have the look of a battered wall.
  • Colors:  Forest to Kelly greens in the Green model, Rust to Brick Red in the Red model, and Gunmetal/Graphite Grey to Black in the Black model.
  • Type of Finish (Flat, Glossy, etc.)  Flat for all three models.  The idea is to have a "battle tested" shaft both in looks and performance!

Name:  Continue the "Elements" series but use chemical elements
  • Helium or Element He - Ultralight but extremely stable
  • Mercury or Element Hg - Heavier but counterbalanced to make it easier to swing ("Quicksilver")
  • Lithium or Element Li - Reactive profile that releases energy more efficiently
  • etc.
Graphics:
  • UST Logo checkered in a ghosted color that fades out as it goes from grip to middle of the shaft.
  • Top color fading to bottom color like VTS
  • Use periodic table as the basis for the graphic with the element symbol in the center but instead of the weight and atomic number, put shaft specs (flex, shaft weight, torque etc.)
Colors/finish:  same ratio or top to bottom as VTS
  • Top - Ion red, purple, blue etc
  • middle - blend of top color and bottom
  • bottom - Ion in silver, red, blue, black, gray (like recoil), etc depending on the shaft
  • One combination of top color with bottom color (i.e. red with blue, black with purple, blue with silver)
USTshaft1.jpg

Edit:  added picture.  I also have the .psd file if it's desired

The atomic line (multiple shafts)

Put various atomic structures up and down the top quarter of the shaft into a solid mid and tip section

Neon blues/yellows onto a black base

Glossy

This opens up alot of color combinations to use on diff launch characteristics for other shafts of the same line
