Picked one up today as I had a bunch of Xmas stuff to trade in

Went head to head in the simulator against the RBZ Stage 2 tour 3 wood, 16.5 HL.   NOTE: The new RBZ's feel a lot less tinny than last years models (I played a tour 18* five wood for quite a bit last year)

DISCLAIMER:  I am a bit of a PING junkie and have been trying to find something I liked as much as a tisi tec 5 wood I used to love ( I called her excailbur)

I won't drag you thru a bunch of LM info.  But, the G25 was quite a bit higher for me in launch and that is what I need in a fwy wood, some real help elevating the ball off the deck and off of tight lies as I am generally a low spin player with drivers and fairway woods

Swing speed 100mph, ball speed 148 ish, carry 238 ish + 10 yards of rollout

Also of note.  I liked the feel more than my previous recent Ping fairways .... a G20 4 wood and G15 4 wood.  (and also the Anser 4 woods I had previously tested at a range session)

The head sits a little open to my eye and the matte black finish was perfect.

This thing will be a beauty when I drop one of my trusty speeder 869 or 952's into it

You left out the comparison to RBZ 2 - how was distance and trajectory?

I also have the G25 4 FW, Love it thus far, it sets up great, easy to hit off the deck (reason I got it), launches high, fairly low spin.....I did the TFC in X flex, it's a great shaft for the head,

I was in Phoenix all last week at PING. Even though I'm on staff with another Co. I have always had a great deal of respect for Ping. The G25 line-up is quite impressive. Got a chance to test everything. Good stuff.

I picked one up today. After a short range session, played 18 holes with it and so far I am very happy. It replaced last year RBZ 5 wood.

Do you guys know the hosel diameter in the Fairways? Are they going with .335 due to the prevalence of their adjustable tech or still doing .350 as it's glued??

Thanks!

I was torn between the G25 3 or 4 wood, ended up with the 3 as the thing is so easy to get in the air, and i'm find the extra yardage over the 4 a benefit to me, my previous fairway was a G20 4-wood, chose the 4 over the 3 in the G20 as for some reason i just couldnt get on with it. so was a bit dubious about the G25 3-wood, went in the shop to buy the 4 wood but came out with the 3....so easy its like cheating..to coin a phrase...lol

Good one NATHS

I like the 4 so much I broke down and ordered a digitally lofted G25 7w at 20*.  Coming with a Tour XS in it.  Apparently, the 7 woods are even getting tour play, for wrxers that love that kind of thing :pimp:

I bought a G25 4 wood today. It came down to the RBZ Tour 2 16.5 and the Ping. On the monitor I was getting about 3-5 yd more with the TM.  I just enjoyed the feel of the G25 better. Both are great clubs. I must say looks also played a factor for me. I really like the flat black.

I found the G25 a little hookey??  Is it draw bias?

This was with the stock stiff - looking at the tour stiff shaft as an option as I like mid 70s in my FW

Had a long range session with it yesterday as well, I concur that it was a little hooky for me as well in tour stiff

Dropping the speeder 952 x in at lunch today with my club builder.  This shaft is a great fit for me and will be a good blend between my driver and 4 hybrid

I just got a 22* adams tour issue a12 proto hybrid .. with a Kuro Kage 100x in it and oh mama cita is that a nice combo for me

Do have the 7w coming in with a tour X but that will likely get pulled for a second 952 or fuji tour spec 110 I have laying around

Still in shock at how easy it is to launch off the deck for me (which has always been the WORST part of my game by quite a margin)

I am pretty hard core Ping, all the way........until this year.

I have the G25 irons in the bag.

But this year I decided I wasn't going to bag just Ping, just becasue it was Ping.....if there was something else out there that is better, it goes in the bag.  Bottom line is the score, not the equipment.

I tested all the competition against the Ping G25 Hybrid........................Callaway, Adams, TM, Cobra, Titleist, Tour Edge, and I came away with a hands down winner in all aspects - distance, launch angle, feel, distance......Tour Edge Exotics XCG6's.

Same goes with the 4 wood..... I was ready to pull the trigger on the G25 4 wood, but the Tour Edge easily beat the Ping out....easily by 12 yards on average.

The Ping G25's are nice looking and very solid.

But, I am putting my money on the Tour Edge's.
Hey man, I'm the dude

I found it to be a shaft issue and not a head issue.  I could feel it torquing too easily thru the downswing and impact

Re the comment about Tour Edge .. If you want it for yardage, that works for you clearly .   For me it is more about elevating easily off tight lies from the deck

Re vs the Anser.  I find the G25 to be easier to elevate and have a less tinny sound.  Yardage wise, no idea .... but again I am looking for help off the deck into par 5's.  I am generally a low spin guy with woods/drivers

Re Shims,  I have shimmed a mother load of 335 tip shafts into Ping fwy's over the years and never had an issue

Reporting in right after a very comprehensive range session with the new shaft dialed in, 43" at d6

Fuji tour spec speeder 952x (pulled from my old favorite fwy wood.. the sweet Tisi tec 5 wood) in a G25 four wood should be illegal,

I am killing this thing and launching it high off of even the tightest lies.  Not ballooning at all, high and penetrating

I see now why the pros all jumped on these so quickly

Report number 2 from kona Hawaii

I am now a good fairway wood player again ... Thank you PING

Hit two rockets off the deck from 245 out ystdy on a pair of par 5's and was pin high both times, I aimed away from the trouble and the shots actually ended up where I had aimed, which was a shocker

Off the tee this thing was crazy long ... I hit one 260 into a 15mph wind.   This was after a one hr downpour the night before
It is as long as my buddies driver I think!

Easy to hit fades and draws as well based on a range session here as we'll

Using the Ping Anser 10.5 Driver. I only carry 1 fwd.  I switched from the TEE CB4  fwd. to the Ping G25 fwd.  The P G25 is much, much easier to launch off the deck with ample distance, too, Very good off the tee with a boring trajectory. With the advent of hybrids if you only play 1 fwd, I recommend a close look at the versatile Ping G25, nearly as long as a 3 fwd. and it has the launch and control benefits of a 5 fwd. .

btw, went with the stock TFC stiff shaft in the G25 4 fwd.  The Anser driver has the Fujikura Red Blur 005 stiff.

I just bought a Ping G25 4 wood with a tour AD-DI shaft, and all I can say about this club is that it is a beast! I've always struggled with 3 woods so I switched to the 4 wood, and now it's my favorite club. Not to mention, I didn't really lose distance, and accuracy has gone way up.

Right now, I'm thinking about switching to the G25 driver and hybrid since I'm struggling a little with those two clubs.

picked up a G25 driver last week in Florida .. tour stiff shaft, 9.5 head

WOW .. good fit before the 4w.  It IS LONG

Hit a 7i into a 516 par 5 two days ago.  Sea level soft conditions etc etc

It is also fairly loud when hitting a 20xiX Nike.  Much better feel with the Pro V1 X

Had to put quite a bit of tape to get the swingweight to d5 after I changed the grip to a tour velvet with 4 wraps
