Not sure where I fall in,I don't really care too much for labels or assumptions. I am a member of several boards of my hobbies. I try to bring in information some of inside, some of it semi-confidential regarding golf tour and golf business.  So what value that I have for this board(?) is I will start discussions on golf rullings, player personalities to golf retail, wholesale and manufacturing business. That being said I tend to write or contribute in a manner where I don't hide behind a keyboard or firewall with my views, opinions or comments. I don't resort to name calling or insulting remarks for people with an opposing view. Instead hope that they use facts not opinions and emotion when they debate. Occasionally I will purposely bring up an opposing view, usually something that has been reported or offers a different spin on some matter to see where people sit. And no surprise there  are a lot of liberal, not in my back yard, do as I say not as I do idealogy in here- like most sites.

Oh an I occasionally like to sell some stuffon the buy/trade forum.I like this place overall.

What' about the guy who tries to post where he seems to know what he is talking about or feels comfortable explaining things, and needs 75 posts to not pay $5? not saying I fall into that category or anything. Almost there!

I think we need more detailed levels. Some guys won't fit into any of those....to me there is:

1) The specialist: Guy who knows a ton about certain things, like clubmaking, or the golf swing, or putters, and generally posts only in those forums. Think like a Monte or iteach.
2) The all around good guy: Not necessarily an expert, but all around good poster who everyone likes. Sean2 is a good example
3) The club ho: Guy who has an opinion that is trustworthy about every club because he has hit them all. Think Pure745 or GolfJunki
4) The tour talk/general talk guy: Guy who posts regularly in the general golf talk or tour forums but isn't necessarily a club ho. Vindog or Kymar come to mind
5) The comedian: I'd say probably 75% of posts contain a joke of some kind....like thrillhouse for example
6) The respected dinosaur: guy who's been around the forums for years, doesn't necessarily post as much anymore but is supremely respected when he does...think stage1350
7) The homer: guy who only posts about a certain player or brand....i won't name names on this one
8) The lurker: Guy who rarely posts but just reads a lot
9) The "I'd hit that" guy: A poster who never adds anything to valuable but posts a decent amount
10) The inciter: Guy who comes on the forum just to start fights. He's the guy in every thread where people make predictions, who revives it weeks later with the "you were saying?" comment. No one likes this guy
11) The tour spy: Guy who mostly posts about early release stuff or tour only stuff. Like Robo
12) The new guy who thinks he has the site figured out: Guy who has been here less then 1 year and has already started one thread called "do you know what i hate about this site?:
13) The perfect poster: Guy who seamlessly blends unimaginable wit into posts that are almost entirely irrefutable, is dashingly handsome and is essentially beyond reproach in every regard. Also contains moderate levels of TMAG resentment.

I think this chart fits me better.  I believe I fall in 'The 'I'd hit that' guy category.  I'm around the forum alot, almost everyday.  I post a good bit but I don't think many people know my name or care for my posts.

I'll bet a "What kind of poster am I" would be an interesting thread.

Where is the "Not that knowledgeable but I like to think I am and I judge people's posts when I actually know something about the topic at hand" category?

I fall somewhere between that and the "trying to fit in with the respected members on the site without becoming a groupie/ stalker/ weirdo"

I recognize your name but I think you've got something hurting you: no avatar. I don't know if people recognize me or nor, as I'm not overly knowledgable about any particular golf subject. But I try to post with common sense and some occasional humor, and i think a fairly recognizable avatar helps. I also try to let guys know when they've added something I find valuable without just throwing out a "+1"

That actually makes sense... I meant to put a avatar up but I joined WRX while at my previous job and I couldnt DL anything on my computer there.  Everything was blocked (stupid financial institution security).  I rarely get on at home from my computer, I just hop on my phone.  So there, I finally got around to it haha showing my Buckeye pride.

I'm so new that there's no telling how I'll end up.  However it works out on the site, whether or not I have time to be a productive member or even have anything worthwhile to say, is up in the air.  If I see a thread that I have an interest in I'll say something, but I won't post just to post (except this time).

Great topic.

I myself have been more of a stalker or lurker/passing time.

I have used this fabulous website for information and knowledge as well as spending the majority of my time in the classifieds as i am a certified/certifiable equipment junky.

I have typically only posted when i happen upon something that i have specific knowledge of but have recently realised that with 30+ years in the game as a player/golf professional/equipment junky that i have aquired a substantial data base in my head and have vowed to post more often and stop being such a lazy member.

Thanks for posting such an interesting topic.
