This just hit the USGA Conforming List today, it is 2 new Covert Tours.  Neither have a weight screw, and the sole has been slightly altered, especially around the Flexloft Adaptor.

Has the Screw been removed in order to create more spin in the tour model for a certain staffer that is known to be a naturally low spin player with a driver in his hands?  What do you guys think?

More than likely they are preproduction prototypes that key players wouldn't let out of their cold dead hands, and thus Nike was forced to get them USGA certified.

This happens a lot:

Tour Pro - thanks for letting me test out the new driver. I love it. It'll be in the bag next week.

Rep - you can't put it in the bag yet. It hasn't been released.

Tour Pro - oh well i'll just hold onto this till you get the pomp and circumstance done with.

Rep - well actually that just a preproduction run. The real ones won't be done for another two weeks.

Tour Pro - well I like this one. I'm keeping this one and if your silly "production" model is just as good I'll give it back. If not I'm playing this one and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it because my names Nick McWoods... (female dog)

Looks like it from the pics.

I'd love to hear what the changes do to its performance compared to the reg tour.  Smaller looking cavity too.
I'm not following you.
Can you draw a picture instead?

Too bad noone asked about this prior to the Q & A we had with NIke.  It will be interesting to watch this play out.  One loft technology for fairway woods too, I wonder if that is in the pipeline for the other OEMs?

These just hit the USGA website today, so I don't think that is the case.

Unless, of course, it is for Eldrick, who has not yet put his into play...

For everybody's information all of the images on the USGA website are black and white.  This does not mean the (possibly newer) Covert drivers will be black.  Looking at the description of Versions 3 and 4 they appear identical with the exception that Version 4 has crown information listed and Version 3 does not.  Version 1 and Version 2 appear identical with the exception of crown information as well, Version 1 says "Covert" Version 2 does not.

Wonder what the difference is between the two. Possibly for Rory since he said he was going to "find a driver" ?

That looks great! I'll be pissed if this comes out in black and I just got my tour.

It would be cool if it came in like all black and the swoosh on top was like gray or a lighter black.

If you go to the USGA conforming drivers link you will see that Version 3 has no crown information listed.  I'm going to guess that Version 3 would be what Tiger would play with absolutely no graphics on the crown.  It looks like V3 and V4 are maybe a touch smaller than the already released Tour model.

I wonder if they have changed the internal weighting a bit to lower the CG to give a bit of additional launch and spin?  This may be in reaction to the number of guys playing the Performance versus the tour model?
