Typically I opt out of any open-ended games with pushes, etc. and inform the person inviting me to play that I'd rather than risk more than $20-$40 at most. I can get as much joy out of winning a dollar a side as I could out of winning a fortune. It's the simple pleasure of making the other guy muster a smile while reaching for his wallet back in the clubhouse that makes it all worthwhile...

Played in a member-guest Calcutta and we "bought" our team at auction. We learn we're tied going into 18, a 190 yrd. par 3 with a long, narrow green. Tee shot ends up just barely on the front, pin was all the way back. Drained the putt for a net 1 and scooped up the cash! Stepped off the putt at about 27 yards or 80 feet. Hence the screen name.
Most $ Lost - probably about $40 bucks

Most lost is 400.
Usually the only money game I get into is a modified wolf game. It's a helluva good time.
Losses are usually in the 100 range though for most

I've split 8 grand 4 ways in a scramble payout
Single matches though most won is about $400 (day I shot 69) and most lost is about $180
We play $10 auto two downs plus indy bets and side bets for low gross, low net, gross skins etc

But my BEST win was a cold, wet, windy day when I had had a terrible round, and on the #1 hole on the course I badly skulled my approach into the dirt, pin-high, under a tree, then used a pitching wedge in desperation - well, the ball popped up, hit a limb, deflected to the fringe and rolled into the hole for a birdie. I won 18 skins that day for $90 bucks. I've never forgotten that, and neither have my buds. Very sweet!

Most ever won: ~12 grand. Was a 2 day money game propped by a pretty big player who came over from the west coast when I was known to have a pretty big backer at the time. Big talker , played alot of head games , big a** really . Lost my cool and didn't even try to hide my speed , just wanted to crush him. Never ever got another game out of him.....Stupid.
Most ever lost: ~$7,500. Got backdoor hustled basically. Was giving away a ton a weight already. I was up around 10k on the week so I was talking with my wallet. Tried to out bankroll him going into the last 9 and he somehow managed to find another gear on me and beat the spot. Shoulda seen it coming honestly.....Stupid.

Most lost- $0
The only reason I won $20 was because a couple guys decided to cut in front of my group (7 cap and two 1 caps) on a par 3. One of the 1 caps challenged the twosome to $20 a hole, one of the guys countered with a long drive for $20 flat. I stepped up and hit one of the best drives of my life, well over 3 bills and walked out with $20 in beer money.

Ouch. You think you got hustled???? That guy that beat me out of $600 bucks when I was poor college student was a guy named Al Besselink. 70+ years old and a way out of shape. At 22 years old I had no idea of any pro names other than Palmer, Nicklaus and Watson....this guy wasn't even on my radar and my PRO was the one that set up the game and didn't tell me. Our match was all but over on 16 as I couldn't afford to press and he starts telling me about playing in the Masters and what not. It was a disaster. I believe this is what is known as a lesson in humility. It worked. He was nice guy though.....

most lost 20-30 plus i had to shave my head. in another match the guy i "lost my hair to" had to get a tattoo.
our "game" is made up of all sorts of silly bets
.50 a hole, dollar birdies, 2 dollar eagles
$1 action jacksons- getting a par after the ball hits a cart path or a tree.
$1 sandies
$1 storming the beaches of normandy-par after a fairway bunker
$1 closest to the hold on all par 3's
$1 "thirty two" bets. putting bet where you "32" the person. if he 3 putts or worse you win a dollar if he 2 putts you win a dollar. you can "32" at any time, from the tee box to the green anytime before the first putt is hit. its not uncommon for us to 32 each other on a par 4 or 5 before we hit our tee shots.

I pop down to a club about 50 miles from home and play in a daily game that is the most complicated mess you've ever seen. If I tried to explain it on here it would take up pages and pages space. The guy that runs the game takes all of the cards and does his wizzard like calculations and figures it all out. The scorecards have more numbers and marks on them than you can imagine and unless you know the game - nobody could figure it out. Doesn't slow down play though because it's all done after the round.
