As for Gary, I am from Charlotte, Williams did the local morning sports radio show (WFNZ) prior to sirus which was prior to GC. I assure you he had a DUI not too long before he left. He was well connected in town to the good old boys elite (Quail Hallow Club / Charlotte Country Club) and it was a moderate story for about 30 seconds...then it dissapeared and "Bif" got no public discipline what-so-ever. I do remember the mugshot (he was quite glassy eyed), but alas looks like he bought the "scrub the interenet" deluxe package.

how he compared the tiger-phil rivalry to the celtics-lakers, the giants and, and, some other team. had he stopped at the celtics-lakers, we would've gotten the point. now all i'm thinking about is, which giants? what other team?

I noticed the same thing this morning. Eagles/Cowboys were the answers, but poor Ahmad completely blanked.

What? Do tell.
They also made the one guy leave cause he is engaged to Holly. I do not remember his name, just he looked like the hulk. Well, they were dating soon after she joined, and now he is gone. Seems the producers like to get rid of anything that could cause an issue.

I said it in another thread, they need somebody like a Dan Patrick or a Mike Greenberg to lead the show. If you had someone like that you could then keep Gary Williams and just roll with that, and Holly. The rest of these guys aren't at all interesting. I still like the concept of the show, and feel there is a place for it, but they need somebody more interesting who can lead the show... My two cents.
Yeah, and the Jets need somebody like Tom Brady or Payton Manning. It's hard to find those guys. Dan Patrick and Mike Greenburg didn't submit their resumes. Golf Channel picked Gary Williams because he had hosted a nationally-syndicated morning sports talk show on Sirius/XM and he had also been a teaching pro. How many other guys have that background?
Ha! I think the Jets first need to get rid of that clown coach, but I suppose that's a whole different discussion.
But I agree with you, those guys aren't a dime a dozen. Hey, I don't have the answer, so will give it some more thought. I just don't think this group is gonna sustain the ratings over time. I could be wrong.
On second thought, Greenberg's been doing his thing for a while now, maybe he would if you threw enough money at him? He is an avid golfer, has a solid reputation, and is clearly tied-in to the sports/golf world. He'd would prolly love to try something new, just would need to pry him away from his current gig, which is pretty sweet. I know, likely to never happen, but money talks...
Not sure who else, but I will give it some thought.

Part of it is that you need to settle in for a talk show to work. Mike & Mike was awful at first. Almost all of the talk shows are bad on day 1. People need to get used to it, hosts need to get to know each other better, etc. Morning Drive has been going for a while now but they can't find a group that "works" yet.
Part of the problem is that Gary Williams doesn't have a lot of TV experience-- he want from radio to TV to start Morning Drive. Kelly T, for instance, has at least 5x as much TV experience. Probably 10x. She hosted Golf Channel Academy, hosted Playing With the Pros, all that stuff for years before they put her in the booth at tournaments. Ahmad Rashad doesn't look as old as he is, but he's been in the TV business for 30 years since he retired from the NFL.
I'm not sure how they fix it. They were hoping Eric Kuselias (sp?) would be the experienced TV guy for the show, but they had to get rid of him.

Hmmmmm. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I think Tim Rosafort is one of the best voices on Golf Channel. I generally stop what I'm doing to pay attention when he is on because I think he's good.

Also can't stand Ahmad Rashad (aka Bobbie Moore) - too many divorces/father-less children for me for him to be a "golf" spokesman to let us know who he rubs shoulders with.
Why can't they get this right? They are gearing this show to the casual golfer & twitter crowd.
Otherwise, I like it.
The problem is they know they already have the hard core golfer, so why do they need to concern themselves with keeping us tuned it. We aren't going anywhere!
Do you "dispise" proper spelling too?

Gary, Hack, Rymer and Holly on Thurs-Monday
Kelly, Rashad and Cook with Lauren on Tues and Weds.
Ginella would be mixed in and Annika and others would provide guest spots.
Instead, Lauren has yet to be on and they have them all on all the time. They try to put all the stupid segements in like wolf and game ball and something else. Just have 2 AT MOST 3 people that know and can talk golf intelligently and have them interview players. Way to much going on.
As for Ahmad, it isn't that he just doesn't know anything about golf, but he is cocky and rude and arrogant. Not to mention he has like a leading role on the show.
It's clear that CG did NO market research when looking at revamping the show.

I agree, Still trying to like the new set up but wow, it's hard! Right now it has the look of some middle of the night infomercial selling male enhancement products.
