I'm a big fan of his but wondering why he has struggled so much since his win last year in Phoenix.  He barely made the cut this week and has missed more cuts than not since winning.  I haven't seen him much on TV so I am curious as to why he's struggling?  Short game?  Erratic off the tee?

I felt a little bad for Kyle Stanley when he got lumped into the Nike signings propaganda. Was he supposed to be a superstar? Or a star? He has a good pedigree and was a really good college player. But he's 25. I mean he's going to struggle sometimes....Ryan Moore was one of the best american amateurs in recent memory and he struggled for a bit on tour

Mtljeff: I understand what you're saying ... guys will struggle, especially at his age.  Just curious what he's been struggling with in particular.

He was on fire early last year and was one wedge shot that spun too much from winning back to back tournys.  He also would have won the John Deere in 2011 had Stricker not made that insane birdie on 18.  So not a star on Watney's level, but I think a rising star.

He struggles with the flat stick. A fairly common ailment out there.

He tends to miss both ways off the tee and doesn't putt real well compared to PGA Tour standards.  He doesn't seem to have a lot of finesse to his game yet.

But he's young and has a ton of potential.  He seems like a nice guy and I could see him playing well on the Tour for a long time.

Seems like your typical middle of the road tour player. Played well at the start of last year but couldn't sustain it. Kind of reminds me of Johnny Vegas...

I think Stanley's biggest problem is that he's playing against 150+ players each week, none of whom have any desire to let him win or to let him out-perform them.

Stanley is a very good player, but he's far from being the best out there. On his day he can be red hot, but those days are few and far between.

Tour golf is tough, and no one has a divine right to win or to even make cuts.

He's not hitting the ball close to the hole right now, and he's not putting well. His confidence clearly isn't there right now. His distance stats (which can often be misleading) are way down from last year. He's acknowledged that there are things he needs to work on away from tournament golf. His game is just not tournament ready right now, and he's got a lot of things he needs to work on before it's ready for tournament golf again.

He seems extremely streaky though. I hope his game bounces back. I enjoy watching him and he seems like a nice guy. I like how fearless he is out there, even if it does cost him quite a bit.

Great Points - which goes to show that those GUYS that are consistantly making cuts and on the leaderboard ARE GOOD (some are EXCEPTIONAL) !!!

I like the guy. He showed some balls when he lost last year and came right back to win the next tournament. But like a few other people said, a very good player, but not necessarily better than the next guy. It appears that if any of these guys get hot with the flat stick and have a good ball striking day, they can win a tournament.

I'm a big KS fan as well, as KS went to Clemson University and that's my favorite football team.  Anyhow, the information i heard was 2nd hand through other Clemson folks who claim to know him well.  They did not go into detail and they only said he was having problems with his crazy ex GF.  Take it FWIW as it may be much ado about nothing.

That said, these are the same people who knew about Lucas Glover's marital problems.

I know who you are referring to, actually, but I can say that really isn't an issue.

Reviewing his stats page, and almost all of his numbers are down from last year. However, the number that sticks out the most is that he's dead last in strokes gained putting. Dead last. That pretty much tells the story.

This year he is -2.0 per round. Wow

Last year he was 3rd from last.
