My buddy is looking to play college golf fall of 2014, I think he would like to stay somewhat local and he is definitely wanting to at least go on a partial scholarship he shoots 38 average during high school (I know it doesn't matter), but he went to the Ohio State Golf Camp and played pretty well against some really good golfers told me he shot 37 with a triple on 9 holes on the Scarlet, he shoots high 70's low 80's in virtually every tournament he plays in qualified for districts last year, his academics are iffy around a 2.7 is my guess takes some advanced courses, but know that he knows the importance on grades he is picking it up.

The main college I thought of is Lake Erie College, I know there are others and his golf coach is Joe Allen who coached Jason Kokrak who is on his sophomore year on the PGA Tour.

I know there are others and his academics definitely need improvement, but as a freshmen in college it is so much easier than high school and I am taking 17 credit hours.

My buddy plays for Tiffin an them seem to have a pretty solid team and facilities.

Best thing I could suggest is find schools with the major he is interested and then contact the coaches and maybe set a visit up with them.

Unless you are recruited you will not play....I walked on in college and made the team. I was beating 2 out of the top 5 players but the coach told me i would not play because I was not recruited. I was like wtf and I just quit....but NCAA says you must hold open tryouts.

Look into LaRoche, Point Park, California University of PA, and Westminster.  I've had friends who have played for each school; some the academic requirements are lesser than others, some have more aid than others, but all will provide an education and have decent programs.

LaRoche seems like it could be a good fit, the captain before me got an offer from Point Park, went to Cal for a open house thing the campus was really nice but it was in a strange location, but he might want to major in PGM so thanks for the feedback I don't think I even heard of Laroche when I was looking too bad I had such a horrible senior year.

Even if Herb Page recruits you is no guarantee you'll play. If he lands a higher recruit and you out play him to make the traveling squad... doesn't mean you make the traveling squad.

Few schools give "full rides" for golf.
