I'm a 14 handi, but pretty long hitter.....Today I hit a drive about 290 and then a 3 wood from the fairway about 255 and from where we stood, it looked like it either went in or was close. For a few minutes I thought I'd pulled off the incredible Albatross. When I approached the green, I found that I'd almost 'dunked' the shot, but the ball came to rest about 12 feet behind the cup.

Any of you guys had a double eagle? It seems like it would be a much more rare feat than a hole in one. I'd love to hear about em....let's see whatchya got!

I made one about three and a half years ago.  It's a par 5 where you can get a good bit of roll on your drive if you can get it over the hill.  I hit a good drive and had 205 left to the green.  I drained a 4 iron.  Not as magnificent as draining a 3 wood from 250 or anything... but it was still a 2.  I've also had 3 hole-in-ones... I've had more than my share of luck!

I agree a two is a two. who cares how far its from. Last year in July I had one. Longer par 5 had 252 left after an ok drive. I was in the fairway but back from where I'm usually play from. So I had to hit 3 wood instead of  3 hybrid or 4 iron I'm usually hitting. Hit the ball and it never left the pin. Saw it hop twice then couldn't see it anymore. Playing with my Dad and he said" That just went in the hole."  I said "No I think it's  a little short." When we got to the green my ball was no where in site. My dad was right it was on the hole! Shot of my life!!! I was in shock for the next two holes.

Closest I've had is a 320 yard par 4 with elevated tee. Drove the green and my eagle putt was 2 inches. Fair to say the rest of my round was s#*t as I couldn't let that go. Still waiting for a hole in one to. Would of been nice on a par 4.

about 9 years ago just out of high school i made a 2 on a 550 par 5 at oak quarry in riverside ca.Hit a nice drive down about 320 and had 230 yds left with a blue pin . Had a decent wind  at my back with a down hill shot and in the middle of summer with some firm greens and fairways. Went 7 iron and landed 10 yds short of the green , watched it roll up and all the way across the green and dissapear as it hit the pin with just enough to get it there. I got pretty excited and had a endzone moment . ended up -3 that day and still my best rd at that course .I have still never had a hole in one to date , had holed one and it bounced out and stayed 3 foot. Also had a 331 par 4 so close on the tee shot that you couldnt see it as it camoflaged with the cup , was literally hanging over the hole.

One hole in one, one double eagle... Fortunately, I accomplished both of those on the same swing. I aced the 335 yard 16th hole at my home course. Doubt I will pull either of them off again.

I thinned a 5 iron 190 yards on my clubs 18th hole two years ago. Couldn't find my ball as I got up to the green, we gave up looking for it, until my playing partners took the flag out to putt, only to find my ball in the hole. Noyce!!!!

I love Oak Quarry!  -3 there is a heck of a round... double eagle or not!

No Double Eagles for me, though... closest was a 3 foot eagle put from right behind the hole.

I've had three aces but never an albatross -- I've never even witnessed one (except on TV) in nearly 40 years of playing golf.  I did have back-to-back eagles last fall, also a pretty rare feat (400yd par 4 + 510yd par 5).

If your playing partners were pulling the flag to putt it sounds like you may have already declared your ball lost and hit another...? So no Albatross for you. Not Noyce!!!

I had one this past summer. 530 yard par 5. Hit a 5 iron from 220 out. It sucked because there is two large hills that block the green from view. Went up to the green looking for my ball and my buddy went to the cup and said holy crap. This led to my lowest round of the year, a 65.  A few weeks later I fired a 64.  Oh how I wish I didn't live in Canada. -50* C today with the windchill.

Why do people insist on calling it a Double Eagle? You don't call an Eagle a Double Birdie. Furthermore, to double something is to multiply it by 2, so a Double Eagle would be a 4 under score, not a 3 under.

Somebody will no doubt be along to tell me how they 'could care less' in a moment and my head will explode....

I've had 6 aces and more fairway hole outs on par 4's than I can remember but I don't think I've even really scared a double eagle.

Had an albatross after 2 yrs of playing. 5 iron from 210 one hop and in. Holed out a decent amount of wedges for eagles. I've had 3 tee shots end up within a foot of holes in one. But none have fallen sadly, not including shots that have hit the stick on the fly and not gone down.

Made one a couple years ago.  4-iron from 205, blind landing area.  My grouped looked everywhere for it, finally checked the hole as a joke and there it was.  It's funny how double eagles are way more rare, but not considered as "huge" of an accomplishment or milestone as a hole in one.

Made an albatross hole in one during my second year of playing. I had a 24.2 HCP at the time. The hole is about a 270-yard uphill par-4 with a very heavily guarded green. There's a bit of a dogleg and the hole is usually played some 15 yards shorter. I had hit the green with my 13-degree Nike Sumo 5900 driver before and had made 2 birdies and a par during the previous three rounds there.

I hit a good drive straight at the flag, saw the ball bounce once on the green or right in front of it, then the ball disappeared. We started walking up but I couldn't see my ball so I thought I had hit it long. As I was heading to check the back of the green the guy I was playing with just shouted that check the hole on the way. And there it was.

It was the third hole-in-one ever on that hole. Later that summer I had one pin-high, 4-5 foot eagle putt which I missed as I was just shaking at the thought of how close I came to getting another one.
