Wondering if there is a company out there that sells individual irons by the loft rather than by the set? Like what Scor does with the wedges but with a ful range of lofts. I know I could do something like this through the Scratch Tour department but that costs some serious $$$

Most companies sell irons individually - and most clubs can have their lofts altered. Component companies can offer individual heads too - and of course these can also be altered in loft to suit. All you have to do is find a head design you like - which begs the question what are you trying to achieve?

I think there will be a big market for this and we will see it more in future releases

Ping sells irons individual.  I don't think there is any upcharge either vs. buying a set.

ive seen ping sets with 5° lofts, its custom and i dont think that is an upcharge, you can save 2 clubs, for a 3-uw, 3 same 20°,  5 (26°-1=25°) 6(29°+1=30°) 8(36°-1=35°) 9 same 40°, pw same 45°,uw same 50°. thats 7 clubs instead of 9.

there is also a set that was sold like this but just from 7 to sw,  g2 ez irons i saw on the bay a set lik this for 100

   I think this is the way of the future for recreational golfers:  a 25 degree hybrid, followed by irons starting at 30 degrees, in 5 degree increments thereafter.

I would LOVE to get a custom set with just the lofts stamped on sole:

I guess I'm a serious recreational player since I've done exactly that: 25* hybrid, 30* 6 iron, 35* 7 iron, 40* 8 iron, and 45* 9 iron.  I had Wishon bend the 7 iron 1* weak, the 8 iron 2* weak, and the 9 iron 2.5* weak.  The bounce was a concern at first, but they're pretty reasonable.  The 6 iron has 3* of bounce, the 7 has 5*, the 8 has 6*, and the 9 has 6.5*.

Wishon... any custom club builder should be able to do this for you.

I agree 100%...I think it would be beneficial to remove numbers...it would make it easier for me to choose the correct club without intrusive ego taking over...I know it may sound silly, but I actually wanted my yardage to replace numbers...

Thanks guys, I think having the loft stamped on the club instead of the loft would be cool. Anyone do this besides scratch?

Why would someone want the loft gaps to be constant?  That would create some pretty big yardage gaps in the longer clubs. Consistant loft increments does not mean consistant yardage increments.  5 degrees in a lofted iron might be 10 or 15 yards and 3 degrees in a low lofted club might create a 15 yard gap.  I am not being critical, only curious as to the "why do this".

Really? I never thought of that. I was thinking that the same loft increments would equal similar distance gaps

Yes ... Please explain. This will never happen on a large scale from an OEM. To many posters need to get out of the Golfwrx bubble and realize that the vast majority of golfers don't obsess over every piece of equipment in their bag. Most golfers have no idea what the loft of their irons are.

From a component company maybe.

Interesting. Would not the distance gaps be the same throughout the set? Please explain. Thanks!
