Interesting new revision to their software (i.e. ITR - Intelligent Target Recognition) that merges video with their 3D modeling.  It looks like a new re-designed model is also on the way (Swingbtye 2) with a different form factor that improves the resistance to post-impact twisting they've had with the 1st gen units.

I'm guessing they'll be showing it at the PGA Show Demo Day starting tomorrow ...

Interesting.

I had one for around 3 days but after around 200 swings it stopped working. The bluetooth disconnected during every swing and it wouldn't pair with my devices. They would have replaced it but considering how it broke I thought I'd rather have my money back. If normal impact with a ball causes failure I'd have to question the longevity.

I wonder if these are improvements planned for the new one.

I cannot get my device to work. Customer Service sent me a replacement device and it does not work either. Customer service said they would send me a third device. They said they tested the first device I returned and said it worked?

I have followed all of customer services directions, delete the application, turn off the phone, turn on the phone, reinstall the application, turn on the device keep on for one minute, pair to the phone, open the application, select a club, hit add+, calebrate the device, etc... and I get nothing. I tried this on two differnt iPhones and an iPad, and I get nothing. Went to the website opened a new account, did everything again and again and again, I got nothing.

Just wondering when you say you went to the website to open a new account, have they made it clear to you that the app website (where you can manage your app login ID and password) is accessed through App.swingbyte.com and NOT through their main swingbyte.com website?  The Swingbyte account you create on their main website is an account for tracking communications (using a third party service called Zendesk) and has nothing to do with managing the app account.  I had some issues initially that were all due to my not understanding this.  When trying to use the app I wan't logged in properly but it wasn't clear that I wasn't logged in.  And I kept trying to fix it by messing with my Swingbyte.com account.  Once I went to App.swingbyte.com  I was able to figure things out.  I hope you get whatever the problem is resolved because it is a quite useful device.

Looking forward to seeing if this is any better, and also I'm pleased my current SB will be supported with the version 2.0 software.

I think SB 2.0 is purely a design change to irradicate issues that early adopters have had.

They could almost be classed in a league of Apple when it comes to this strategy :)

Seems to be a competitive market. I imagine the other companies will scramble to make changes as well. Might be best to wait a bit for the bugs to all get sorted out.

I'm still on the fence as to which one of these swing device/app combo's i want to get but one of the major turn offs I had with the original swingbyte was that everyone was complaining how you needed to move it back into the correct position on the shaft after each swing. I really hope it gets resolved in the redesign because I was ready to get the 3bays device until my brother told me he could get a discount on the swingbyte via his work.

I think the redesign was to specifically solve that issue tocino.

Looks like the sensor is earlier available, but the Swingbyte 2.0 Software later this year.

That is an incredible add-on feature by swingbyte. This could push my decision to use this one than the other competitors.

I wonder how this target fix works. Do you have to set up your iPhone/iPad for a down the line video every time? Sounds a bit like a hazzle.

Btw I agree re the SkyPro. I like the groove feature they have. That could make it a winner. I just hope Seingbyte will come up with something similar. I don't want to by a new device as I've already have the SwingByte

Does anyone know if the 2.0 version of the hardware has other improvements aside from attachment?  I would really like to pick up a swingbyte now as I am not too concerned about the slippage (sounds like a little tape onthe shaft will overcome it) but I would rather wait if the 2.0 sensors are better/different.

If you order one of these now off their web site do you get the new version 2.0 sensor? Or are they still shipping the old one?

If you order it now, it is the old version. I believe I saw somewhere that the 2.0 preorder is starting sometime in February.

First of all, i like the ui of swing byte. It seems best out of the swing analyzer. Second, I believe you can used the swing byte with putter as well. GSA pro, you have to buy another attachment for putters. Golfsense does not support the putter. Swing smart just to expensive and not available for android. Not an apple fan. One thing i look forward to is the putter analyzer. Swing is important too but putting is something ppl forget about. I want an analyzer can do full swing and putting swing. With these improvement of the UI and new hardware, which I think looks much better, thisis my to get list for 2013. I am a big techie and love such gadgets. I be looking forward to the swing byte 2.

Loving the SB1 and can't wait for the app update on the ipad. The slippage is minor at worst, clean dry clubs and it will hardly move especially if you place a ring of masking tape at the base of the grip. It is so easy to connect, and the best part is you just swing and swing and swing and swing. Awesome! And because its synced through your account, you can use it with your ipad if you've got time or just your iPhone/iPod in your pocket or bag and when your done all swing data migrates by themselves. Genius. The camera ITR function will basically give you a pocket Trackman for under $150. Very happy.

Bushy, quick question for you since you're already using.... how difficult is to align the SB device on your club?  I noticed that one of the competitors has added a feature that does this alignment for you no matter where you stick it on your club.  With SB, is it necessary to have it perfectly aligned?  Seems like it would be, and seems like this would be difficult to accomplish.

I really don't understand how the camera ITR thing is beyond a gimmick of the framerate is so low on most mobile devices.

The ITR allows the device to get a precise fix on the target, basically like any.launch monitor where you have to carefully define the target when you set it up.  It's mainly for those who want the ultimate in accuracy...without the ITR (it's optional as to whether you use it) the device defines the target line as where the clubface is pointing at address, which most of us can get correct within a couple degrees.  I don't know the details of the technology but I do know that it is computationally complex to the point that they've expressed public concern that not all smartphones may have the required CPU power...they're testing that now and are trying to make the image recognition algorithm more resource efficient.  I would imagine that the algorithm needs only the first few video frames to detect the club position (when the club is moving slowly and is clearly captured even with a slow frame rate camera) and uses that info to exactly define the target line.  The 30 fps video speed limit only means that slow motion replay of the video will be blurry in the fastest portion of the downswing, unlike the 3D swingpath graphics which will be viewable side by side with the video.

Which competitor device are you referring to?  I thought all these on-the-club devices depended on where the clubface is pointing at address for their definition of the target line....I'm curious now, how else would they know where the target is?  That's what the new Swingbyte ITR feature addresses.

Precise alignment of the Swingbyte on the shaft is crucial but I find it easy to look down the shaft and align it with the club face grooves.  The new version is supposed to have an alignment aid that makes this easier still.  The main issue up to now has been maintaining the position of the device on the shaft during the swing...the new attachment design appears to address this, plus they say no weight has been added.
