TT is testing some new powder-coated steel wedge shafts, that they will do on a very limited basis.

Oh. I was actually expecting something other than their current shaft in a new colour scheme. It's a DG painted black - hardly ground breaking TT.

If that's just a tour issue dg wedge shaft powder coated then its hardly a prototype and a little late to the game.  But what's the deal with the pictures that show a transition from a black section to a chromed section? Is this some type of bi matrix wedge shaft?  More info please!

I'm no expert, but it's probably the part where the grip goes. Hence it probably doesn't need paint?

Yep now that I look more at the pics it's def the butt end of the shaft...so is it a prototype high spinning finish that keeps trajectory down?

Can't wait to see if differences appear between then and now.

Does anyone else just find it amazing that TT has not found a way to make Dynamic Gold any better?  I mean wasn't that shaft initially created in the '70s?  Hard for me to believe with all the changes in golf that Dynamic Gold has stood the test of time.

But it has, so why change? They obviously have it dialed in if so many tour pros are using them. It's the most used iron shaft on tour as far as I can tell.

You don't alter the cash cow!  Anything different will be called something different in case it isn't well received it won't give DG a bad name.

But they did, didn't they? Yeah, they tightened the weight tolerances, gave them a new label with Tour Issue on it and decided to charge over 3 x's the retail price =  tour issue DG!  It's not like the average guy like us needs a tighter tolerance shaft. I love DG shafts but honestly TT has done nothing innovative in a while except to admit they could have better tolerances and charge us out the arse for it!

TT already offers a black wedge shaft, s400, for $20. How does this differ?

It's a nice looking shaft, but the chrome section detracts from it.

Not a lot. It's a plain old DG painted black. Obviously, it has the rustic charm of the TI label that will cost you considerably more.

The chrome section will be largely trimmed off and the remainder is under grip. Hence you won't see it on a finished club

Interesting.  Does the coating actually do anything performance-wise or is for looks only?

Lol - it more than likely throws the weight sorting tolerance of the TI off. But then again, TI is for looks only too isn't it?

Is it me or does the finish look like it's not holding up that well in some of the pics?

This shaft is a result of player requests for a black DG shaft for wedges. Not a prototype or something to be launched, just one offs for a few players.

Odd. I've never heard of anyone having issues with glare from a chrome shaft in over 35 years of playing golf. Why the sudden need for a black shaft now? Or is it purely a fashion trend?

Vibrant Golf charges $25 a shaft, wonder what the upcharge for these is?
