This is my first WITB posting, so I’m crossing my fingers this comes out correctly. Previously gamed Nike Victory Red & VR II Pro Blades respectively for nearly 3 years prior to sustaining a right elbow injury early last year. Thinking I needed more user friendly clubs, I decided to have a mid-summer’s flirtation with TM RBZ and Burner 2.0. They were decent clubs (especially the Burner 2.0 TP woods), but ultimately we couldn’t make it work, so I broke off the affair, reconciled with Nike shortly after Christmas and decided upon the VR-S for my gamers and (a slightly) mixed Nike SQ set as my reserves in 2013. Although some may say we’re still in the honeymoon phase, all indicators to this point have convinced me that I’ve made the right decision….
Here’s my set-up for the VR-S:
1. Driver: Nike VR-S 8.5*, Tour AD G60 series shaft (Stiff) cut to 45”
2. 3 Wood: Nike VR-S 15*, Stock Fubuki shaft (Stiff)
3. 2 Hybrid: Nike VR-S 18*, Stock Fubuki shaft (Stiff)
4. Irons: Nike VR-S (Cast) 4 – PW, AW, & SW, Stock True Temper Dynalite 90g (Stiff)
5. Lob Wedge: Nike Victory Red 58*
6. Putter: Nike Method Core Drone
7. Ball of choice: Nike One Vapor Series (One Vapor, Vapor Speed, Vapor Black)
Personal Assessment: Short game/Recovery around the greens definite strength of my game (hence the 4 wedges) with putting a strong 2nd. Better than average iron play w/ accurate but somewhat average distance driver. (However in the dead of winter, I’m seeing increased distances w/ the VR-S driver)
Duty Uniform (Hey I can't help it I'm retired military....)
Business Casual
Formal Attire
The Backups:
1. Driver: Nike MachSpeed Black Round 9.5*, Project X 5.5 cut to 45”
2. 3 Wood: Nike SQ Dymo 15*, Stock shaft
3. 2 Hybrid: Nike MachSpeed 18*, Stock shaft
4. Irons: Nike MachSpeed X 4 – PW, AW, SW, Stock
5. Lob Wedge: Nike Victory Red 58*
6. Putter: Nike Method Core Drone
*Note: I have the Nike VR II Pro 58* wedge on hand if I decide to sign up for the GC Amateur tour this year—not likely, but several of my friends are trying to convince me to do so.
