I finally received my order for what will be my 2013 gamers. here we go:

Driver:
Titleist 910D2 9.5* 46" Project X 7C3 6.0, played in A1
bought this club 2 years ago and I cant find anything worth buying to kick it out of the bag.





3Wood:
Titleist 910F 15* 43" Project X 8C4 6.0, played in C3




5Wood:
Titleist 904F 19* 42" YS-6 R-flex (yes i know it has a 906f headcover)




3Hybrid:
Titleist 910H 21* 39" Diamana 'Ahina 90HYB S-flex
I was absolutely hitting laser beams with this thing during the fitting to the tune of 235yd carry and 250yd overall consistently. it will not leave my bag for a VERY VERY long time.

nice clubs, what your index and how come you play the velocity ball

very nice.  How do you compare the Sm4 to the SM2 wedges?

i honestly havent even hit the SM4 yet.. i just got it with my order yesterday and its 18* outside here near albany ny.

as far as why i play the velocity's, they are a LONGER ball by far than anything else ive hit. easily 1 club length more distance than the prov1. slightly less spin, but for my game i will trade the extra spin for added yardage. soft feel when putting too. and the 27$ pricetag compared to 49$ for pro v's is much easier to handle. i play to about an 8 handicap. im usually in the mid 70's to low 80's. 112-115mph swing speed with the driver...

i would trade soft feel for distance anyday, and i hit it short

have you hit the velocity's? they do have a great soft feel still. dont get me wrong i still have some pro v's in the bag, but my every day gamer is the velocity. being able to stretch my 9iron out to 160-165 when i want to is great coming into some of the par 3's around here with hard baked greens... sticking a 9 iron vs a 7 iron is key, and i just cant do that with a prov, even with the added spin. at nearly 1/2 the cost as well, the velocity is an easy choice for me.

I found the Velocity's to feel like rocks, but everyone has there own opinion.

If the velocity was worth a darn it would get use on tour.. Yeah it's longer..


But that only helps your ego, if you're playing blades you should be able to hit your 7 as well as your 9..

Pro-V1X's are plenty long.


I'm probably not supposed to say this, but the new Pro V1x coming out soon is pretty awesome, definitely a different ball.

as i said before, i have prov's in my bag, but i dont play them regularly. i prefer the added distance for my game and i can still back up the velocity with short irons and wedges. i shot several rounds in the 70's this past year with the velocity. i see no reason to pay 20$ more per dozen for less distance and otherwise nearly identical performance (for me). i obviously know that the prov's are a 3 piece ball with more spin, etc... if im backing up the velocity with my 7 iron, i dont need added spin from the prov's anyways.

been toying with the idea of taking my old trusty 904F out of the bag for another wedge. looking at bending the 52* strong to a 51* bending the 58 weak to 59* and buying a 54*, or 56* and bending it to a 55* giving me 4* gaps in my wedges, and still having the adjustability in my 910F to go from 13.5* to 16.5* there arent many par 5's that i cant reach in 2 unless they are over 550 yards. im feeling like the 904f might just be redundant now... anyone have thoughts or input?

Great taste in equipment.
But with all those Ferraris in your bag, the last thing I expected was a Kia for a golf ball.  Kind of a surprise.
I've been known to use Velocity also.  Great ball with the longer clubs but I prefer NXT's or the ProV's for the short game.
But we all gotta use what works best for us.

i made the mistake of "only looking" today at northway8golf.com    ended up hitting a bunch of different drivers from the covert to the anser, the razrfit xtreme, and the 913...
ended up ordering a new  913D2 8.5* with a 46" Aldila RIP a60 shaft. was getting consistent ~280 carry, 295 overall with this club with a 45" shaft. 46" will be just silly. cant wait til it comes in in a couple weeks!

Love the irons got a set myself with Px 6.0 shafts. Just wondering how you find the KBS shafts in them?

the kbs are a very smooth shaft. on both full and partial shots they react very nicely for me. gained 14 yards with my 6 iron going from AP1's with DG R300HL shafts to the 712 MB's with the KBS tour stiffs.

yes, i work at a golf course so i hit everything, and to me the velocity just feels like a rock, range balls are softer, i guess if distance is your game then sure, just doesn't make sense with the rest of your bag, cost has never been an issue for me as i only use 4-5 dozen balls a year, just my opinion. but no "distance ball is ever soft"

soft is a subjective term. yours and my definition obviously differs. a velocity feels like a marshmallow compared to a nike mojo or top flite XL. i play pro v1's and v1x's on occasion... i have no problem buying them... but if im getting the same or better results with a ball thats literally 1/2 the price, goes farther and stops nearly as fast for me... why on this green earth would i shell out 48$ per dozen instead of $27... you dont need to pay the most for the best performance. i play what i play because it works for me. ive dropped from an 18handicap to an 8 in the past couple years only playing on the weekends. im pretty ok with my game, but thanks for your concern with my balls

Honestly i love the feeling of velocitys too, definitely not the softest but still feel nice and perform excellently. For a junior who can't afford to be buying provs etc. they are great.

special ordered another wedge and am removing my 904f 5wood from the bag for the time being. '

Titleist Vokey 56.11 in tour chrome (bent to 55.10) +1/2" 3* upright with KBS Tour wedge shaft in black nickel with a midsize golf pride NDMC whiteout grip.

that should leave the bag looking like this:

I had the back-up Scotty Cameron Catalina #2 re-finished locally and it turned out fantastic. need to change the grip on it, but it looks fantastic. ill put pictures up later this evening to show the before/after shots of how perfect this came out.

traded in the 910f 3wood and special ordered the 4 dozen titleist pro-v's for the cost of 3 dozen a lil over a week ago. also  set myself a tee time at pinehillsgolf.com on the nicklaus course for 115pm on sunday! first round of the year. can NOT. wait.

ok so ive played about 6 rounds or so this year with the new clubs already. shot 79 my 3rd round. staying relatively consistent. still working into form but things look promising. the circa 62 #7 has worked its way into the bag on a regular basis for my putter. the 910 21* hybrid is just money from 220-235 for me. had a 265 yard 2nd shot into a par 5 last night (250 to the front edge). 60* outside and carried the 913fd OVER the green.... woops. still got up and down for par though. gotta love this game.

Great bag. I hit the Titleist CBs and MBs this weekend. I hit them solid, but pulled the MBs more than I would like. One day I'll get into them. The CBs were real nice though.

It has me contemplating.
