When viewing posts to a thread, in the lower right hand corner of each individual post is a "Reply" button. When clicking on that button.....

1) Does this action merely bring up the editor for a reply to the OP topic?

2) Other than "quoting" text or a PM how does one reply directly to an individual post in a thread?

3) Highly suggest a "Test" forum where members can play around / learn all the nuances of the live forums without cluttering up the place. Maybe save dump questions like this one too.

Pressing reply will quote the post you pressed reply in. Quote allows one to multiquote multiple posts and the last you hit reply and they all appear. You can easily see it if you just press the button. ;) Nothing bad will happen. :)

Just to add...if you want to PM...hover over the person's screen name to see a quick profile of the person....there is an option to SEND MESSAGE.

Did you press the reply button in MY post or the reply at the bottom of the screen?

If you're using the MOBILE version, you have to click the post for the reply button to appear in the persons post first (it's hidden on the mobile version).

Pressing Reply at the bottom of the screen will not quote the post. You have to press reply IN the persons post for the quote to work.

And yes, I understand the confusion of "Quote" and "Reply" as both buttons don't really do what the rest of the various internet forums do do (like vBulletin).

This is another test of IMP's instructions using the reply button within a post to obtain quoted text.

What are you using for a browser? OS?

Maybe walk through the steps in how you're doing it?

Because pressing reply in your post gets me....

Windows Xp, Svc Pk 3, Google Chrome Version 24.0.1312.52 m  No issues wth an any other PC functions, websites, forums, programs.

GWRX steps:

Sign in > Forums > Choose topic > Read select a post to reply to > click "reply" button in lower right corner of post text area > scroll to bottom of page to typed area / box > type reply > CLick "More Reply Options" button > Post Preview > Add Reply

Have also tried the "Quote" button within an individual post as well as the "Post" button at the bottom of the text typing box. Neither does a thing as far as I can determine. ;-)

Your assist much appreciated.

Test

Just did that in Chrome 24.0.1312.52 m On win 8 using your method.

Odd. Do you see what you quote, as soon as you hit reply, before you start typing a reply in a quote block?

Try going to the mobile version of the board and quoting. (Lower left corner of forum, "Change Theme") and try replying to a post using that method. See if that works? Just testing and trying to eliminate possibilities. ;)

I do not see anything "quoted" in any reply. Zip

Wondering if some obscure security setting in Chrome? Investigating. Will try mobile version next

Can you try IE and see what happens? Or Firefox? This would tell if it's a browser specific issue or not.

The issue was briefly resolved last night after I allowed GWRX to freely set all cookies. The only cookies being blocked at the moment are the ad / movement tracking ones which encourage pop-ups, email offers, and the like. The Forums issue is back to the the same old issue and I'm tediously going through the Chrome browser level blocked cookies settings which could apparently override the GWRX specific settings. First time I've ever had this issue of any type on any website / forum with Chrome. Very Weird.

Thinking about opening a shadow account at GWRX from my pc to see if that works.

If all that doesn't give a fix I would need a list of some sort of which cookies GWRX generates. Might you know how to contact an ADMIN / owner directly?

BTW_Thanks for all the help and your idea to test the mobile version helped me narrow this down to the local PC.
