Derek is from my town and left to UNLV for college.  He's played alot at my club over the years.  Seems that he finished college just in time, for the last year of q school.  He went to q school pre-qual then onto 1st 2nd, and 3rd stage.  It's going to be fun to watch him on tour this year to see how he adjusts to playing on a different stage.  He's a great kid, I'll be rooting for him.  Greg, any info about who is caddying?  Thanks.

Seeing a lot of Project X love in these bags!  Good to see since that is my preferred shaft.  I thought KBS was taking over the world.  Maybe not?

This is one of the first guys I've seen gaming Project X with the S56 irons.

Thanks for the pics, Greg.  Big fan of Derek, really good kid, happy to see a Rebel golfer be the last Collegian to ever advance from college to the Tour.  I hope he has a prosperous year.

Luke Guthrie (rookie this year) is also gaming PX 6.0 in his S56s.  His WITB was posted recently.

Great win for Derek today at Quail Hollow.

Rory got his first win there, Rickie got his first there, so that's really good company.

Go get 'em Derek!

Classic putter, but I think he was actually using the scottsdale TR Grayhawk

America's Ryder Cup team keeps getting harder and harder to make.  Crap ton of talent showing up these days this side of the pond.  Maybe it could actually translate now that Watson's heading them up!

Saw that.  Everyone trying to put in the latest $380 shaft in their drivers and Derek takes the field apart with a Stock TFC 707d in an i20 driver.

PING makes good shafts.

Without a doubt Ping makes some great stock shafts.  I've never been fitted for anything else other than their stock stiff offerings.

Looks like he was also playing an i15 3 wood with off the rack ProForce Red shaft as well.

every other source I've checked, notably Ping, has him bagging an i20 driver, i15 fairway wood, Tour Gorge wedges, and a Scottsdale TR Grayhawk putter

Per pgatour.com stats this cat has a 120.46 mph clubhead speed which is 10th on tour!!!  ball speed is 175.48 mph, 24th on tour....not bad for a skinny little dude

He was definitely playing an I20 driver and Grayhawk putter yesterday.  The original post in this thread may have been right in January but needs to be updated.

Wow cool.  Was he a good player?  Is he one of those all-round athletes?
