I would consider organizing a small outing if there was enough interest. Say...five groups or more, so minimum 20 guys.

What do you guys think?

I'd be in if the area looks good, I'm 2 hours from south bend/ 2.5 to Gary. Are you looking at just 1 day or a weekend?

Well I can let you guys decide...we can do White Hawk, Lost Marsh, The Brassie really doesn't matter to me. Once we get enough guys we can discuss it and pick a nice course. I was thinking maybe skins&Pins or what ever again something we can discuss when we have enough guys. We can do a vote on the courses when the time comes.

I am looking to make it fun meet some Wrx'rs and have a good time with. Not serious cut throat round ya know what I mean..

I never played there. Where is that located...? Sandy Pines would be a good course too.

Wrx'rs.   I'd also be a huge fan of either sandy pines or Whitaker woods.  Played Whitaker for the first time last year and loved it.  Sandy pines is a favorite of mine I play a dozen times a year.  I've not been updated but I hear they began construction on 17 at sandy pines to be a very close if not exact replica of tpc sawgrass #17.

Whittaker woods would be better for me from a travel standpoint coming from Grand Rapids, MI also when were you thinking of having it? On a side note just across the border is harbor shores. Idk how hard it is to get an outing on but the Senior PGA championship was held here last year.

I was thinking maybe May weather should be pretty nice by then. I am up for any course that makes it easier for everyone. I am located in Crown Point so what ever works for everyone. But if the course is futher away from I may need help booking the date unless I do it over the phone.

I didn't get on Sandy PInes this past Summer... bummed about that... and I am excited about #17

I'd all be for Warren...great track in always nice shape....gets a low amount of play...good size grill room...pretty much cold sandwiches and beer.....never anybody in there....I think whittaker gets most of its play on the weekends...a co-worker had the entire course to himself on a tuesday.....whittaker has the best fairways of just about anywere....greens are about a 7.5-8ish.....both of those options are running about 75 on the weekend off the top of my head....Harbor Shores in may would be pretty salty....don't think I'm way off saying 145....unique layout with three different style 6 hole courses for lack of a better way to describe it...but even Jack said this year he overdid it with the greens....rarely...and I mean rarely do you have a putt that only breaks one way.....fun to play but......whittaker is about 15 minutes northwest of michigan city, In..off of 94......brassie i could take or leave...If I'm gonna play in valpo I'll play forest park!!..FP!!!....classic little course always in nice shape....couple of holes you can air it out....small greens..usually kept in nice shape for a muni....35 bucks on a weekend i think....that's I think the extend of my knowledge of golf in Northeast, IN...now if you want to talk south bend to do a middle ground location for kalamazoo grand rapids guys ...Elbel is awesome just off the toll road....Blackthorn runs a close second....Warren is owned by ND and they don't count on play to pay for the course as ND alums I would guess mostly have paid its bills...probably the best course for the dollar pound for pound.....coore and crenshaw did it before the world found out they were cool!...great bunkers, greens, fairways...Hampshire in dowagiac, Mi..just north of s.bend....36 holes...slow greens...great bargain and two good layouts with about 4 boring holes....good bar...10 dollar sixers...good place for a group...

One other option is mystic hills in culver, IN....straight over on 30 from the guys from NW indiana....(not northeast as I muffed the punt in my previous post)...a Pete Dye P.B. Dye design that is a ton of fun...great layout....easy to get tee times typically...good pace of play....and like 35 on the weekend....It's a hidden gem...always in good condition...once again not in northwest, IN....but probably very doable for a grand rapids/kalamazoo guy...1hour and half....maybe under an hour for valpo.....and could include some semi-northern, IN guys between Indy and south bend....ok..I am running out of my local courses to pimp...I will go get another cup of coffee and I am sure something else will pop into my head....haha

@ddubya

Sounds like you might be the man to narrow down a course that is geographically friendly and affordabel for all. Would you like to take that one on?

I can change the title of the thread if we can decide on which course to play and try to draw in some of the Michigan guys if that's what we want to do.

Do you guys want to play and then have dinner afterwards or do you guys just want a lunch served at the turn and we can have a few in the bar after the round?

Wherever we play is fine, i know I'll be in for a little drive. Dinner afterwards wouldn't be to bad for me. Also were you planning on just drawing names for teams?

I am more than willing to help...my vote is against lunch at the turn...unless you meant between 18's......I would be all for an 8am ish tee time...and a 1:30 ish...with a bullxxxx/sandwich/ beer session between....
maybe a morning 18 straight up skin game...everybody throws 20 in for skins...kp's....and the second 18 draw for partners 1/2 hdcp best ball team event that everybody throws 10 in for....Finding a course might be difficult due to the immense driving length of wrxers!....I propose once the field is set we search everyones post...(for special wrx rule setting)...if ever posted a 300yd drive (not down wind)...back tees must be played...if a putter is stamped (guilty as charged)....two strokes shaved off official USGA handicap.....if wedges and putter are stamped....4 strokes off official USGA handicap....if rocketbladez or a driver shaft that no more than three other golfers present have ever seen in person is being played....2 strokes off handicap...lol.....maybe the 2nd week in May?....

I am in Fort Wayne and would be in.  Have played Warren and Blackthorn a few times and would welcome another chance, the other courses I have not played sound interesting as well.  South Bend and Valparaiso are both a couple hours drive.

Charting people on a crappy map i printed out at work.... pulling people from Grand Rapids and Fort Wayne....that's some tough drives...to Northwest, IN...also I play a course a few times south of chicago...Glenwoodie....fantastic course....maybe another option.....hard on Fort Wayne or Grand Rapids.....we need some more people chiming in...participation will drive the location!...let's do this!...(imagine breed's mock 190% enthusiasm during that last part)

I might be interested depening on when. I will say this, I don't know about the courses that have been mentioned here, But I have been to a Byron outing a couple of years ago at Swan lake. The courses are not high end, probably middle of the road, but you have 36 holes and and Lodging if anybody makes a longer drive. Plus bar and food, not much else you need. We never left the property the whole weekend and played probably 72 holes.
It is also a site of one of the Golf Channel am tour national tournaments.

The wife and I did a stay n play at Swan Lake for our anniversary a year ago...nice facilities, and I would rate the course mid tier maybe a slightly higher mid tier...food was excellent.
