G25 is almost as low spin as Anser but higher launching but with G20 forgiveness.  Definitely louder than G20, closer to Anser sound.  When I can, I'll post differences between then 4 heads provided everything else is equal.

In PING's stable we have the i20 which feels spongy to me off the face and spins quite a lot

Interesting. Not many have called the i20 spinny but i, like yourself, found it spinning quite a bit more than expected.

Funny thing about that, do you miss thin?  My bad swings with the driver are always low on the face.  When playing a driver like G20 you almost don't know when you hit it down there but drivers like D3 or i20 you know instantly and pay with high spin.  Not a huge thing for me because the ball still flies straight but it's almost like on this heads 1/8" lower on the face punishes you with 400-500 more rpm of spin.

When you hit any club low on the face it will spin more, especially clubs that have higher COGs, such as the i20 and clubs aimed at lower handicap players

That's exactly what I said, I'm a + handicap I'm not talking about hitting it off the leading edge but slightly below center.  When I play a club like the G20 or even Anser you don't even know when you hit it down there and the spin still stays sub 3000.  My point was exactly that, when you play a club like the i20 the spin goes way up even if you hit it just a hair under the middle so I can see where some would think it spins a lot.  At the end of the day the driver is only as efficient as the guy swinging it.

G20 (8.5)- 7.2 TS
Anser (17)- 8.8 TS
EYE2 (2, 4-LW)- S400
Teryllium Santa Fe

I am a Ping ho and own the G20, I20, and now the Anser driver. With a handicap around 13 and a swing speed around 95 mph, the Anser with the TFC shaft is by far the better driver. I have played three rounds of golf now with the Anser driver and have only missed the fairway on 4 holes for all three rounds. And even the misses were still playable. If the G25 is better, everyone's handicap will go down because it will have to be the straightest driver in history.

G25 has an uber deep head.  CG will be way back there for high launch.  Some of the pro's are using it already so while the spin may be higher than Anser, which is a low spin head, I doubt it will be high judging in a general sense.

Deep as in front to back length?  Comparing my G20 and Anser heads, the G20 seems to have a slightly shallower face.

The Anser is one of the lowest spinning heads available, maybe even the lowest on an apples to apples comparison..G25 will likely spin more, due to the GI market that it intends to target.

I just played my third full round with the Anser, and it is freakishly straight if you make solid contact. Usually my good drives peel off to one side as the fall, but that's not the case anymore.  It hits the ground like it's got more work to do.

This year I have owned or still own several drivers including R11s, Cleveland Classic, RBZ, as well as the Ping's I have listed above. This Anser driver, granted we are still in the honeymoon phase, is the best feeling driver I own. Like Goosehook said,  if you make a solid contact, you know when you look up, you will be amazed. I played yesterday with two people that I didn't even know and after my 4th hit with this driver, they were asking me if they could try it.

I hit g25 today. It was low spin but super forgiving. I was hitting a nice draw and it was just as long as the Anser for me. Also exceptional ball speed.

Did you like it enough to switch from the Anser? What shaft did you hit?

Yes based on limited time I like it much better. Even when i missed ballspeed was almost like a center strike. Shaft was a stock Ping shaft.

Have you hit the fast 12 LS? If so, how would you compare it to the G25? BTW, I'm in
Chandler. Where are you?

I've hit the ls but Fubuki is worst shaft for me. Similar ballspeed to g25. I'm in Gilbert.

Can anyone comment on the G25 face angle in the 9 or 10.5 head - open, closed or square?

Can you use one of the Anser shafts in the G25 head?  I only ask because I have never been a fan of PING's stock 45.75" driver length for the G series.  I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool to hit a G25 with the ahina from the anser...Even 45.25 seems long for me, but it's better in my mind than 45.75!  Plus, it would be a killer color combo.

GolfWRX'ers......

Hope I am not off topic here, but I thought this thread would be the best place to get a little info.....I returned an original rapture due to the shaft splintering after about 10 rounds. (My 16 year old was hitting it...the club has been the closet for a couple of years still in the wrapper)  Ping called me today and offered me any driver from the I-15 to the anser.  Of course I chose the anser.  One question....I am currently hitting the Adams A4 9015D 8.5* with an x-flex Rombax.  I chose the a'hina shaft in 70X-flex... 8.5* .......What do the wise people of GolfWRX think?

I tried the Ahina shaft and thought the TFC was smoother with better numbers. BUT, my SS is only 95 mph and sometimes I look a little goofy swinging so I am sure it would play differently for you.

I like the tfc shaft as well, my ss is the same as yours.  When I hit the g20 and Anser head to my ss was around 2-3 mph bettter and the ball speed off the Anser was 7-8 mph faster.  would be intering to see how the Anser and G25 compare. gb

Talked to Ping customer service today just to make sure the G25 could be digitally lofted which is the case. The rep explained just as others have said" higher launch than the Anser and a little more spin." When I asked how much more spin, they said it was only 100-200 rpms but will vary obviously between each player. Will be really interested to see some actual real world results... I could take a little more spin to increase launch and forgiveness. Looks like Ping has another winner on their hands and I'm going to order one up!

I went with a stiff to help me keep the spin down, I tend to hit the ball too high with too much spin .The Anser is lowest spin head I have hit.

Have to admit that I'm pumped about the G25.  I'm a low capper (1) but my biggest trouble is probably the driver and accuracy.  I'm going to carefully demo the G25 and Cally's new stuff this year.  It seems like Ping is listening to our requests with the matte black and the adjustability.  I personally also like the fact that Ping only allows for minor adjustment tweaks in their hosel design.  Too many options can drive a WRX'er crazy.  It's like going to the Cheesecake Factory and trying to pick out something to eat....

With an 88mph swing should I play a Reg flex in Pings stock shaft?

My swing speed is at 91-93 mph and I have had success with both regular and stiff with Pings previous TFC shafts. The last time I was fitted at Edwin Watts, the salesman found me a firm flex based on cpm. I was surprised how much the cpm readings varied on shafts of the same flex. If you are a tweener, you need to hit them outdoors and go with feel, flight, etc. On Pings website they have a web fitting tool and if you input a driver distance of over 210 it always recommends stiff which seems bizarre.

Also, Ping tour rep said on the radio this AM that the G25 should always sit square no matter the setting.

It's especially important to get fit for the right TFC 800 because unlike the other TFC's, this one is designed to launch higher for softer flexes, and lower for firmer flexes.  See the trajectory chart in the club's description here: http://www.austads.c.../sattrVal0/mens

I wonder where the Tour Stiff would fall on that launch chart in relation to the standard Stiff?
