Can´t go wrong with a 1 year "old" model for half the price or less. My guess would be a RAZR Fit (my favorite) or a G20.

I'm a big Ping fan, but to me, the G20 series seems to have been lost in the mix.  The G15's have reached iconic status and are still available, for the same price as the G20's.  Now with the adjustable Anser and G25, these are the one's stealing the headlines.  I agree, there's great value to be had in the previous year's model, but I never remember Ping phasing out a series and having a faster price drop on a line than they have with the G20's.

The Nike VR Pro LE driver and fairways are awesome. It knocked my tour issued SFTP 2.0 out of the bag. TGW had them new for $165 ish last week, but it will require a reshaft since the stock shaft was terrible for me. I put in real ahina and it made a world of difference.

Hey,

It seems like with the new drivers coming out like the R1, the R11s and other drivers from last year are going on sale for pretty good prices.  Being a mid handicapper, do you think it would be a good idea to go with these.  I am looking for adjustability.  I have a swing speed of around 105-110 and my 8 iron is my 150 yard club.  Any recommendations?

I have been working through the same situation. Very simiular swing speed, etc.....after realizing I won't be making any tour other than the "Tour of Italy" offered at the club house. I decided that last year was good enough! Chould have my R11s TP in 2 days!!! Don't know if the R1 is better but for me I know it's not $200+ better!

No last years clubs are junk.  Spend the $200 more and gain 17 yards.

Unless you want/need adjustability, 2 or 3 year old drivers are probably just as good and even cheaper :golfer:

Cleveland Classic 290 is a great driver.  I got one with an upgraded shaft (cannot remember which Kaulsa it is) for $150.  The shaft cost more than that new.  Very straight driver.

+1, I picked up a 290 9 degree with the stock C. Kua and it's a beast.  $150 new and may go down even more

Just ordered up Ping G20. I wanted to find out what all the hype is about. Boy this thing is straight. I didn't have enough money to get exotic shaft put in but I chose what felt the best and have me a good numbers. Surprisingly it's very low spin head and shaft combo.

I love mine.  I'm still rocking the stock shaft as well, because it goes where I want it to, and I'm terrified of messing with it at this point.  I'd love to pick up 10 yards from a shaft swap, but I'm not willing to risk changing the way I'm hitting it.  I'll wait until my first slump to re-shaft, lol.

Can't go wrong with the G20.
