Hey guys, look what we got in!!! R1 V2, I figured I would share a few photos.  If you would like any additional photos or comparison photos just ask.  I don't have a retail R1 to get any comparison pictures with but will soon.  I hit this a couple times indoors, these R1's have a great sound and feel.  The graphics aren't as bad in person as I had expected them to be...

Any info on size, lofts?

Looks just like the R1 V1 but smaller.

Do you know what loft it is? And does it use the old tips, or the new ones?

Thanks for the pics, Will!

Old tips will work, but won't be able to adjust as much as the new ones.  The new sleeves are 2*.

I'm skeptical on sound. I have yet to hear this club, but my last TM driver (Tour R11s v2) sounded like a tin can.  In fact, it was the worst sounding club I ever owned (and it had hotmelt in it).

i play the Tour R11S v2 and it is 440c in size..i would guess the R1 v2 will be the same...great club with the Fubuki K60 shaft..but sound is a little tinny, but will put up with the sound because of the good results i get!!

The R11 and RBZ came off to me as being VERY thin walled.  I never owned an R11 but do own an RBZ fairway.  I had the some hot melt added to the crown of the RBZ and it made a world of difference.

As for the V2 R1...440cc by chance?  If you painted it black, the profile looks almost the same as my Tour R9 Supertri...very compact with the deeper face.  I am a fan, just probably won't be a fan of the $ it costs to get one.  :)

There is going to be three different lofts available.  Not sure how you can identify each loft without measuring them, I was told something about coding or possibly the serial.  The old sleeves do not fit.  The new tour sleeves do not have a loft stamped on them but the same as last year, lower, standard and higher, there are 1*, 1.5* and 2* available in the new sleeves. This one is 10*.

Can someone tell me (Reasonably) why TM has so many tour versions vs other brands. Im not hating (b/c you have to say that or people get their feelings hurt) but really if I spend the extra on the tour version what am I getting?

I'm not 100% sure about this, but the size of the face and the head are looking very similar to the R11. Anybody thinking the same thing?

Because the retail versions aren't up to scratch.

You would think that TM would go to the tour first, work out head specs the tour guys want, and then release it to the public with those specs, instead of vice versa... but then that would require common sense.

There seems to be an obsession with making every head 460, then making it smaller for tour. Most people couldn't tell the difference between 460 and 420 with the naked eye, and the reduction in forgiveness would be negligible. I don't see why making a 420 head available to the public from launch day is so out of the question.

Saw one cut in half yesterday and there are ribs inside to help acoustics.
R1 was ready to go to market over a year ago and they held it back which gave them alot of time to work on sound.

I thought I heard TM is only releasing one head since the loft can be dialed in within a range.

Correct, the tour guys get to determine the actual loft they need which in my opinion is the ONLY WAY to optimize the head, one size fits all is a retail/manufacturer friendly product with no tangible benefit to the end consumer from a performance standpoint. If one size fits all was able to truly be optimized then the tour would be playing the exact same model but they clearly are not. If you want a true performance R1 you better get it from Will...BB

That fact will certainly boost the demand for the V2 tour heads.

If you can get over the awful graphics, this is a good looking shape.

May it is intentional, maybe it isn't. You'd have to ask a TM development engineer that question. My guess is yes.

I think that due to the weights, the ASP and sleeve, due to the curvatures of the lines of the head, this is what TM is left with. It's just simple sound physics. Well, probably not that simple.

But due to all of the openings and such, that is how the frequnecy of the ball hitting against face and reverberating inside the head sounds. I'm sure the design engineers work on the frequency of how the club should sound, and maybe they want that particular frequency. They get tour feedback on that.

I know Callaway does that, as does Titleist too. So I would think that TM does it as well.
