Sold a Cameron Putter on ebay December 31st via Buy It Now to an Ebay member who had a very good record over a lot of transactions.  It has now gone south.

Sold on December 31st, shipped USPS on December 31st via USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation.

Delivered (so says USPS) on January 3rd.

On January 3rd he asks for positive ebay feedback, says he will do the same for me.

I left it yesterday.

Today he says he is mad and never received the putter.


Classic scam.  

What do I do next?  Never had this happen before.

As long as you have delivery confirmation I'd think its between him and the post office.

How much did the putter cost? If it was more than $250, you may be on the losing end of this one. Signature confirmation is required for items valued over $250 to be eligible for Seller protection via eBay/Paypal.

It was only 120 or something, plus shipping charges.

If USPS says it was delivered and you have confirmation of that then it is no longer "your problem".  It is simply between him and the post office to sort out.

You're good. Don't sweat it,  be kind but firm in your correspondence with the buyer until the matter is over.

Had a similar experience to this last year at this time in UK. Correspondence etc from buyer saying he was happy. He had been left a while you were out notice left by RM. He then collected from sorting office. However Royal Mail never got a signature so I was forced to refund. I did claim back from RM but irks me to see Scumbags do this. Ebay aswell considering they saw his correspondance saying he was happy with driver and still found in his favour.

I sent the guy a message with a copy of my delivery confirmation/tracking and he quickly said he'd bought more than one and got them mixed up.  Left positive feedback.

Who knows what happened, but I'm relieved its no longer an issue.

So to clarify:

1) Sell on GolfWrx
2) If you have to sell on ebay make sure you get delivery confirmation/insurance right?

Any time you sell anything to someone you don't know:

Delivery confirmation
Insurance for the declared value of the item

In the end, if you sell enough stuff, one or both of those things will pay back the cost of providing them.

To me, it sounds like he's done this before and tried to pull a fast one on you. Once he saw you were covered on your end, he backed off realizing he couldn't win.

Glad it became a positive outcome for you. I always use USPS and get tracking/insurance, its only like 70 cents or something per 100 dollars for insurance, the extra couple dollars will be well worth it in the end if it does crappy!

I thought I was screwed by the USPS last month-- bought an R11S head off ebay and checked the delivery status and it stated "delivered" but it definitely was NOT delivered to my house.  I contacted the seller and they said just to wait another day just in case before making a claim (which I quickly found out would have done nothing-- I should have asked for insurance!).  Luckily the head was delivered the next day but I'm not too keen on using the USPS ever again...

Not that the feedback is the concern here but I wouldn't leave feedback as a seller until you receive the positive from the buyer. Just one more thing that could get in the way if there's a dispute later.

Anytime I sell anything on ebay worth more than $100, I send with signature confirmation even if its a hassle to the buyer.  Seems like its way too easy for a buyer to file a claim and say "never got it".  I do put in the ad that I will send with signature confirmation, but sometimes buyers dont even read the description...smh.

The whole thing seemed fishy but I'm not about throwing out accusations when i don't have proof either.  Didn't mean to out the buyer either, but glad it all worked out.  Thanks for the input everyone.

It is disappointing that you have to hold your breath when buying and selling these days. Only had one sale on here turn out poorly when something I bought wasn't as described. Sticking to buying/selling here if at all possible!

Nothing is wrong w/ teeitup1.  It looked like the deal was going south and I thought I could ask a question here w/o outing the buyer. Avgjoe tracked down the buyers info.

Long story short, it ended fine. As always, ship with the normal precautions and get delivery confirmation/insurance.

+1,000,000  the buyer get to rip off sellers since you cant leave negative feedback.  I am sure he does this with every thing he buys after positive feedback is left.  I would report him.

The guy is a flipper.  If you look, he buys multiple items every day and has a ton for sale.  He bought a Scotty Cameron Miss Lena head cover for $140 and is selling it now for over $250.  I have no opinion on him either way, not enough evidence for me to draw a conclusion.

I'm starting to form an opinion now.  He bought the Miss Lena head cover on 1/6 "used" from a seller.  He listed on 1/10 as "new in bag".  You can tell it is the same head cover because it has the same exact creases in the same exact places.

Yeah, he's clearly flipping things and I think the Miss Lena is definitely a scam "Used to New".

So I've got too much time on my hands, but maybe this will help fellow golfwrxers out.  So this teeitup1 guy on ebay....he buys used items, bags them, and sells them as new.  
Just over the past 2 months he has purchased 15 used (on 4 separate occasions) SC plastic bags that new putters come in.  
He bought a SC Bullseye head cover used and is now selling it as "new, other".
He bought a SC Flying Ducks head cover and that listing did come with it in the bag, now it is now new in the bag.
He bought a SC My Girl new, not in the bag, and now is selling is it in a sealed bag as new and unopened

I'm not going to pass judgment, I'll let everyone decide for themselves.  But when a guy is buying up bags it raises a red flag.  Then when I see items sold not in a bag that he bought and is now selling them in a bag....I can only say that I would never buy from him.

I have been selling on E bay for 10 years or more and never had any problems but since i have seen this thread i won't ever sell another item without asking for a signiture on delivery , when you give it a little thought someone could concievably recieve a package and deny ever getting it and with Pay pal giving refunds to buyers like candy a seller could get easily screwed , and another thing  where i live the Fed ex man rarely knocks on the door and just leaves packages on the porch without attempting to notify the person he is delivering to , so i don't think they are resposible once a package is left so a signiture is your only defense and it make the delivery person have responsibility also
