IMG_2949.jpg IMG_8401.jpg Hey wats up guys, I have always loved center shafted putters put just could never find one I liked. I decided to send a scotty cameron fastback to Lamont Mann to get it center shafted and a lot more to be done to it. It will have a black paint three alignment lines, deep mill. They are sending me pictures as the proceed with the process. Thought you guys would like to see. The one picture is Rory's from when he used the fastback.

Its interesting how the first picture I was sent was when the removed the original shaft position and a bunch of metal is missing ha. Ill keep you guys updated with pictures and trust me the final thing is gona be sugary SWEET! Feel free to comment and let me know what you think

UPDATED: Photo of putter with black finish

UPDATED: THE WELD IS IN. the alignment lines are on. only one more step which is to finish this thing and paint it. ITS LOOKING GOOD!

UPDATED: ITS FINISHED!!

UPDATE: I GOT IT!

I opened up the box today and it was like christmas all over again. Out come a beautiful scotty cameron fastback with everything I could of asked for.  You can see the toe hand it has about the same toe hang as a normal blade putter ex: Ping anser 2.

Love it. Wish I had the funds for something like that right now! It's tough being a left and a center shaft fan.

Looks good!

While I really love LaMont's work (he has done a GREAT job on several putters for me), I would probably prefer a welded CS to this style.

Just personal preference of course, but I much prefer the welded look to the "bolted-on" look here and on other centershaft conversions he has done.  I'm curious how much added weight there is with this approach, and if it will affect the putter's balance.

Below is a tour-issue Cameron centershaft where the Cameron guys had to take an unfinished GoLo head, and weld the centershaft on.

The retail GoLo has the centershaft inserted into a hole, and it goes right between the cherry dots 1 and 2.  Whereas this silver tour putter (Adam Scott proto) goes right to the center.  Obviously the exact placement of the centershaft is individual preference.

Cameron offers some CS tour putters with the centershaft in three different locations.  I happen to prefer the centershaft to go right to the center like this Adam Scott proto.

I have also added a photo of a tour-issue Fastback with the welded centershaft.  I have seen this in black too, and it looks fantastic.

The Fastback design is a great choice.  I'm sure you will love it.

Have you considered having LaMont black it out too?

He does the best work I have seen on the black finish, and this would look GREAT in black.  :ninja:   Just a thought. :derisive:

Just out of curiousity, how much does he charge to create the center shaft option?

Looks good to me and LaMont is fantastic to work with. He actually converted a Cameron Squareback to a center shaft for me a few years ago. You can find it under his threads on Puttertalk somewhere. Came out amazing as everything he has done for me has. Hope it works out great for you!

Looks great.  I've been thinking about this particular putter the other day.  Slighter also can do this.
How much was it approximately?

all in all for a deep mill, center shaft, refurbish, three alignment lines it was about the same cost as an odyssey versa putter (i can't post the exact price apparently) it was ALOT cheaper than what slighter wanted and this work seems top notch.

Looks great. Might want to edit out the $$ info. Be sure to post pics with the black finish and when it's shafted up.

Nice.  You will love LaMont's black finish love I'm sure.

You should also consider going with a black shaft.

I just put one in my Cameron Big Sur S Centershaft, and it looks REALLY good.  :pimp:

Quick note to clarify the picture in the first post, the one that shows the neck on the top line.  THAT picture was only for the customer to visualize the location of the hosel.  It was held in place with SuperGlue until I was 100% certain that the balance, weight and look was just what he wanted.  By Monday at this time, it will have the weld in place and be ready for battle......or at least for a good finish of flat black.
You are all very kind to me and I appreciate the comments.
Big changes may be in the near future and I hope to be more of a contributor here, in 2013.
Thanks again,
LaMont in AZ

That weld DOES look good.  Nice job LaMont!

Here is a finish I think looks VERY good  :nyam:  just so you have another idea to consider.  :derisive:

I've also seen a tour version in black with a single white alignment line and white dots.  That looked great too.

Looks great.  LaMont's dark black finish is terrific.

Couple VERY small changes I would make if it were mine..... I would use the same shiny black paintfill that LaMont used so nicely in the outer alignment lines, in all three dots AND in the cavity "CAMERON" lettering.

I don't think the single white dot looks good.  Better (IMO) to go with the all black + shiny black look, with the exception of the single white alignment line.

For some reason, the single white dot just doesn't look right to me, and the CAMERON lettering looks almost unfinished if you don't put the same paintfill that you used in the dots in there to match.

Just my $.02.  Great-looking at address just the way it is.  Now put a black shaft in there!  lol

So...it's a GoLo?  :)

I like it, but it does seem like it ended up pretty close to what a GoLo S is.

TOTALLY different-looking than a GoLo.  And much better-looking IMO.

The GoLo is not symetrical at all.  This putter, the Kombi/Big Sur S, and the Red X2 are.  That makes a HUGE difference for me, as the GoLo has an almost unbalanced, oblong look to my eye.

2nded. I prefer symmetrical designs over organic shapes. They're almost to the point of being distracting.

The cameron underneath the white dot was supposed to be white be he was unable to do that. It still looks great tho

That makes sense.

It will look the best if all the paint fill is coordinated and works together.

Meaning the three dots, the CAMERON name, and the alignment line all done in white would look great......OR, you can go with everything black EXCEPT for the white alignment line.

I don't think it will look as good if you are not consistent one way or the other with the paintfill.

I would vote for the all shiny-black painfill in the dots and CAMERON, with the white alignment line, as I think it will be easier for LaMont to make that look perfect.

The white paintfill in the dots and CAMERON are tough to get perfect, and even the slightest variation or unevenness with the bright white paintfill will stick out like a sore thumb........Whereas putting the shiny, black paintfill (like the paint in the outside alignment lines) in the dots and CAMERON will not stand out as much against the dark black background, and will likely look 100% perfect.

You can probably tell (and I'm sure LaMont will agree) that I'm a bit anal and a perfectionist about how a putter looks!     And if you didn't know better (with all my over-the-top input on finishes), you would think this putter was for ME!!     Wow, I do love great-looking putters!

Head at address looks GREAT.

If you use your headcover religiously (like I have with the black polymer finish LaMont put on my Red X2), that finish will stay dark and great-looking for a long time.

Great putter choice Murph, and outstanding work again LaMont!
