Thanks for posting those - The top (8) looks quite a bit open (relative to the shaft).

Is this a by product of the loft adjustment?

people like myself who have been using their products for almost ten years to now think about changing to another company. I mean if I have to get new shafts anyway why not?
Hypothetically TMAG sold 60% of all driver shares last year, look for that to be 50% this year, 45% the following year and so on.
So, is this like Nick Satin winning the BCS game the next 3 years but only winning by 28 points, then 21 points then 17 points?
Sabin

My point is that they had strangle hold and now with this release I expect there to be breathing room for the competition.
Saban.
There's a big difference between winning a football game by points and maybe loosing sales percentages.  If you win by 1 or 100 you still win.  If your driver market drops from 55% to 45% you just lost nearly 20% of your sales on one of your products.

Would you really care if you won by 17 or 27 in your next football game?  I don't think it would bother you at all.

BUT - How would you feel if when you receive your next pay check your boss walked up to you asked you to return 20% of it back to the company?  That's basically what happens when you lose market share and don't sell as many of one product.

Comparing a win to gross sales is not even close to the same thing.

HUUUUGE difference there.

And that my friends, is the problem with the one-loft concept (just in my opinion).

Everyone has a slightly different eye for these things, and you know how much a HATE a closed head.  lol

The 12* looks slightly closed to my eye.  But either way, it looks nothing like the 8*.

On that note, I know first-hand how fast you get the driver moving, so you can get away with the lower-loft setting in order to have an open-to-square face.

But what about the poor guy with a slower clubhead speed that NEEDS the higher loft....but is also an excellent player who hates a closed head.  What is that guy supposed to do with this "one loft" program?  lol

I would like to see this Trackman test:

10 shot average all with same shaft

R1 12* Neutral
R1 9* Neutral

R11 12* Neutral
R11 9* Neutral

Would be cool to see how good the one loft system works and if the difference between the true loft R11 heads is on par with the difference in the adjusted R1 head, in regards to launch/spin.

That 8 in N is about 4 open haha..... Hit one today, nice sound and feel, doesn't spin as low as R11s V2 head.....

First off, the R11 and R1 and so different IHMO...the R11s is much closer and a much better choice to compare to.

Next, what loft would the R11 have to be in order to do this test? The 10.5 or 9 degree? Because you will get different results from both of those being adjusted to what you asked for...I would say that the 10.5 would be a better choice.

Like I said, I say that the R1 in the 9.5 degree setting will sit more square then the R11 9 degree with both being in the N position on the ASP. This is what my eye tells me....what the actual loft and face angle is for these would be interesting to know.

If you hate a closed head, this head would help that. It all would depend on what loft you need and if you want to apply the ASP settings to it or not. It would sit stupid open at 8 and 3 open on the ASP setting.

Put out the fire! It's that loud! I am use to most loud drivers these days...I have been told it is louder then my R11s if that helps, but I think it is less loud then the RBZ Tour. When you hit in a enclosed area, all drivers seem loud. I will try the rubber o-rings again and see if this dampens it a touch.

Top 8 bottom 12?

We have a winner right out of the gate.

Both in N of course.

The thing about the adjustable drivers is that it seems like smoke and mirrors. I could just take my old Launcher 460 and twist it open or closed to get less or more loft and bang, I've got an adjustable driver. And I didn't have to spend 400 bucks. I do like how shafts can be switched out. I just never got the point of adjustable drivers, FW, etc. it's good marketing though and make the industry millions.

I think you can accomplish that.  12 shaft setting with asp plate 3 open.  In the r11s I went shaft lower asp closed +.  Never thought in a million years I would do that....

I hit the R1 today. Definitely not as distracting at address as I thought. The look, feel, and sound is very much like an R11S. I wasn't a fan. Still sounds very TM metallic like. I prefer more of a crack sound. If you've played any of the R series drivers, you'll be right at home with this one.

Hit an R1 today & 913d3

former R11s owner, been gaming an old school SFTP LCG 8.5 for reference, which IMOP, is an extremely fantastic head, but that's beside the point of the post. My wife ran into hobby lobby for some DIY hell...I ran in the other direction to a big box golf retailer. Ive hit many things in their sim, also my own equipment which I have used a laser to confirm distance on a driving range so I know the distances, and find it to be not jacked up on carry.

Knowing the guys I got them to set up a quick test. They were unpacking an r1 just with the stiff rip phenom shaft 55g (not my preferred shaft), drop it to the lowest setting, supposed 8 degree or whatever that is, didn't measure the face and with TMAG's measurements like women jeans, an 8 could easily be a 10*
Tested against a 913D 8.5* w/ rip alpha 60g stiff (closest I could get against the TMAG shaft) again not my preferred shaft. Setting I believe it was A1

Results. My wife was hot on my @$$ to not spend more than 20 minutes in there.... So no real warm up and maxfli range balls. Took 8 cuts with both drivers. I only adjusted the R1 to the lowest setting. Tennis shoes, Virginia Tech hoodie and jeans
These reflect only my opinions, and are no means the word of god and done very hastily. Im just trying to give feedback after hitting both. I love both TMAG and Titleist, got both products in the bag. Im a whore with no loyalty, which everyone performs the best.
-----------------------
R1
Better feeling than the r11s and R11, the R1 sound is DEFINITELY improved over both the former offerings. Not a huge fan of the graphics but they are playable.
Performance
I wish I would have taken notes
LA roughly from 9-12*
Carry 270 -289 - best total distance was estimated at 303
Best ball speed was 175mph - there was some tape on the top and bottom of the driver, none on the face
Dispersion was OK, I leaked a couple right

913d3
To me, feels more solid than the 910. Sound is on par with the 910. But I feel this thing performs a whole lot better than my 910 did.
LA roughly 8-9*
carry 275- 294 best total distance was estimate at 306
Best ball speed - this surprised me - was 177* - this was a demo driver no tape.
Dispersion was better on the 913d3 for me than the r1, Either club is going to provide performance, but the sound and feel goes to the Titleist. Neither is a dog in the distance or performance category. Getting fit properly for loft, length, sw and shaft is going to make one better than the other. IN MY OPINION.

Solid choices for 2013.

I think a good idea would be to offer the sleeves before launch at a reasonable price. Didn't the Anser sleeve take awhile to be released and I'm not 100% sure but I thought I saw them for $60?? This way it would encourage your loyal customers a chance to have a few shafts or their Gamer to try when the driver launches. Rather than hit the stock option and say it wasn't "all that" without a true comparison or correct fitting shaft.

Or better yet do a trade up program where you can swap your old sleeve for the new one at a nice discounted price...I mean if you really want to take care of the loyal customer...That's what I would do.

Nice idea that would be great for current customers, but they don't have to do it to keep their crown. Ugly or not, better performance or not, they will sell as many of these as they can make to average golfers even if they temporarily piss off the enthusiasts.

No way dont see it the average golfer has no clue about open or closed faces yet what loft does to launch angle.  They seriously jumped the shark with this one bet the Callaway boys on here are having a serious laugh about these responses to TM.   You should see the Facebook responses....brutal.
