Attn all Georgia WRXers, there is a tournament at Chateau Élan on Feb 9th to benefit the family of Tripp Halstead. I'm sure those of you in Georgia know his story, but I'll give a brief synopsis.
During the passing through of Hurricane Sandy, 2 year old Tripp was playing outside at his daycare. A large branch fell from a tree at the daycare and landed on him. Among his injuries was a fractured skull(which required rebuilding after the fluid was drained). He was originally given a 50/50 chance to survive. Well, he's tough as nails and is still fighting his way back.
I have donated to the family as much as I could, but I also was watching the Falcons pregame a few weeks ago and it was announced there would be a golf tournament to benefit him. I knew it could be my chance to help as much as possible with this family. I've been doing all I can to get items donated for this tournament by contacting all of those that I could in the golf industry. I've secured some items that will be part of a silent auction as well as possibly prizes, and such. But I do not do this to call attention to myself. I'm doing this because I have 2 children(biological and a step son), one that's 3 years old. I know I'd want all of the help I could get in a time like this. This story has effected me. I've felt compelled to do all I can to help make this event a success, as have others involved. Just recently, someone secured a trick shot/long drive team for a show. There will be plenty of items for silent auction, etc. but they also need golfers.
I will be playing in this event, and I know I have 1 team member, possibly 2 besides myself(my cousin, a collegiate golfer has said he wanted to play, and his dad was wanting to as well). If anyone out there wants to play if be glad to welcome them to a foursome as well. I want to have a full 4 before registering. I will post the flyer for it below as well. Just wanted to get the word out for those that didnt know about it or haven't seen it. And if any of you want to donate items, monies, etc the persons organizing the event can be contacted via the info on the flyer I'm posting. Or if you want to donate and remain anonymous, you can send the items to me and I'll send them all in one big box(I'm mailing the items I've obtained ahead of the day of the tournament so they'll have them before and will know what they have and can decide what are prizes and what are auction items). I'm not affiliated with organizing it in any way, just want to make sure its full (or over full), and that its a success.
