[Landy]

I hurt another disc in my back and need to switch to graphite shafts on my irons.  

What do you play or recommend?  I dont have a budget.

Put them in my G15's. Granted the weather/time of year limited me to one round of golf (with no range time) and by no means can give any true recommendation. However I can say that based on the number of balls struck I have nothing negative to say. Won $$$ on a closet to the pin shot. Which will always skew judgement.

Yes I heard of those was also looking at the Oban's; Fuji-Rombax; Mits/Rayon - Fubukis & Bassara and the Aldila VS Protos.

Arthur xcaliber 85. They are actually not expensive but play very similar to the aerotech steel fibers. Go with the Reg flex. They are an amazing shaft. Don't overlook these due to price.

UST Recoil, Graphite Design Tour AD, Matrix Program. For me they are in order of favorite to less. Recoil is really a great performer and lots of options on weight and flex. Good luck with the back problem.

I like the aldila vs-proto's.  They come in a variety of weight ranges (60, 80, 100), great performance and reasonable price.

Steelfibers are very tip stiff.  If you have an early or mid-release, something with a softer tip may be more to your liking.  I have a mid-release, and I couldn't time the Steelfibers.  I am better with a 110 gram shaft with a softer tip.

  +1 - I had these (in 80) in several sets last year as I also battled some injuries.  They were quite consistent despite my concerns as it had been years since I played a graphite shaft.  I also used the similar NV Comp and had success there too.  It didn't hurt that they Protos can sometimes be found for very reasonable prices.

Yes, the NV comp's are also a good shaft especially if you're looking for a lower launching graphite shaft.

1- Thank you for your kind words
2- Steel Fiber felt  harsh and stiff
3- Was thinking of the ACCRA I play the XC in one of my drives, I have had it for years, still go back to it
4- Going to look into the RECOILs
5 - Yes I heard the NV Comps play stiff to flex and you need to really go after it and with my issue dont wish to do that. So I was looking at the VS's.

Definately look into the Recoils.  Amazing shafts.  Also, the Oban Oi-series are quite good too, though IMO, a slight step below the Recoils.  If you need a good contact, I know a guy!  LOL  He's personal friends with the President of Oban, and UST is 15 minutes from his shop.

been jones'n for the recoils in my AP1s, have DG S300 in them, what would match up performance wise to those?

Anyone else please advise on my other choices.  Not looking into the GDI since it will be difficult if one breaks to get another since they are no longer servicing the US market from my understanding thank you!

Arthur x Caliber is an excellent ,inexpensive shaft.  Golfworks has them on sale ,prior to the 2013 models coming out

The comparable recoil model in terms of weight and performance to the DGs300 will be the Recoil Prototype 125 F4.  They will have a very similar initial launch except in the long irons which will launch a smidge higher but they will spin less throughout the set.  Obviously a completley different feel but in a good way.  If you were looking to go slightly lighter I would take a look at the Recoil Prototype 110 F4 tipped .5-.75 inches.  Shoot me a pm if you have any other questions.  Thanks

GDI is still available and will continue service through Pro's Choice Golf Shafts in California. It is being run by the former CFO of GDI N. America. I would still recommend the Recoil, but, if GD TourAD is your first choice you won't have problems replacing or adding. I just replaced a broken shaft through them with no problems.
