So much like you would gather from the title, for those of you with iPhone's who use them for swing videos, what mount do you use to attach them to your tripod? I have one of those Joby gorilla-pods already and now just need to decide which mount to get that will actually hold the phone.

I'm a video professional by trade and have brought a DSLR to the range in the past but it is cumbersome and annoying to lug a tripod and the camera so it would be nice just to throw the gorilla-pod in the bag and attach my phone which already goes everywhere.

Been looking at the Glif+ but wanted to hear what you guys have been using first.

Buy an I phone hard case and a shaft clamp. Crazy glue the clamp to the hard case. Buy a crappy shaft pull on eBay or from my basement and presto.... Stick in the ground anywhere u want it takes 5 seconds unipod

That's an interesting idea. The shaft pull wouldn't work though since I rarely practice on grass ranges. But gluing a 1/4" socket to a case could very well work with the gorilla-pod.

Anyone else have "official" mounts for the iPhone?

I use two solutions. Either use the Ping cradle (the one that's used with the iPing software) and attach it to an alignment stick which is pushed upright into the ground, or cut a slit in an old tennis ball and then jam that into the top of your stand bag, and then put the iPhone into the slit you've made. The stand bag acts as your tripod and the tennis ball becomes your mount. Its a bit Heath Robinson, but with a bit of ingenuity you can make it work quite well, and its easy to carry about and use and best of all its inconspicuous.

Thank you! That looks perfect. I actually pulled the trigger on getting the Glif but promptly canceled it and will pick up one of these.

Have you had your's for long? How durable is it? I'm thinking along the lines of the spring action for the clamp for durability.

so far I am liking my viewbase.  Its very versatile and it seems to clamp on to a lot of things.  The CamCaddy can only clip to a alignment stick.  But I have used my viewbase to clip on to my golf cart, push cart and golf bag.

I had two of the Viewbase's. They both broke. The gimbal at the end is a horrid design and is prone to pull off the end of the rod. I almost lost my iPhone because of it, twice. It just strips off the metal teeth.

It's not durable at all. Like I said above, I broke two with very minimal pressure on it.

It is a great product but doesn't work for people who's ranges aren't grass.

Can the Camcaddy hold your phone horizontally or just vertically? I've always had the phone horizontally for recording my swing.

Only vertical. I actually emailed them and they said nothing was in works for something that holds phone horizontal which is disappointing

If you want an iPhone mount, you can beat the Holster by Protosports. It doesn't get anymore portable than that.
