I hope Tiger doesn't leave for Taylormade. The R1 graphics are distracting enough on the crown. I couldn't imagine tiger stripes on the crown.

I can't see tiger doing anything or  playing anything unless it involves money and lots of it, although this thread is of interest of a "what if scenario the fact remains its  a sad commentary of the life and times of TW or anyone for that matter like him....... he has proved it time and time again, its all about Him and about money period.

The r1 graphics distract you, along with  the alinement  triangle as well maybe......but the nike white swoosh on a red crowned driver does not?

Right or wrong I find that interesting

To compare to Jordan to Woods is ridiculous. Their market appeal may be similar but Jordan's legacy is winning. He won 6 championships in in 15 seasons, thats a 40% winning percentage with 2 three-peats. Woods will be known for a great player that won 14 of roughly 60 majors (which is roughly 23% winning percentage) and held all major trophies at one time, but he will always be linked to the accident and what could have been had he not lost his mojo.

Nope he didn't, maybe people should think about that before comparing the 2. I will say this though, what happened to the bulls in '94 and in the early 2000s?

A Tiger branded club (ala Nicklaus) would sell big to the Canablasian market for sure...It would be bigger than Nike golf.

Can anyone help me find the thread about the sun not rising in the East? My search has been unsuccessful.

Wonder why the bears clubs did not make it big.

As far as Tiger goes.

Golf equipment is boooooooring.

I see more of a chain of high end topless gambling steakhouses.

The Nicklaus and Palmer branded clubs just never found the same market cache as Wilson Staff or MacGregor VIP.

The Tiger name would be great on a set of premium, no compromise clubs for top tier golfers.  But you can't run a business that way.  And when you look at some of the GI Nicklaus and Palmer clubs, you understand why the easiest way to have a million dollars in the golf equipment business is to start with two million dollars.

Truthfully, Tiger's marketing problems are getting further and further away in the rear view mirror. The "incident" will always be a footnote in his career but it's hardly the career ender some thought it would be. Honestly, since the incident and his struggles winning important tournaments, i actually think his interviews have gotten A LOT better, he jokes more, he's more personable overall, he's chummy with some of the young players like Mcilroy. I mean 2002 Tiger would have slashed Mcilroy's tires, beaten him 10-8 in the match play and then made 3-4 witty "don't mess with me" comments in the post game interview.

It's almost as if he realizes he needs to be a bit more personable if he's not winning as much. Either way, i think he's very marketable one way or the other. He's meant so much to Nike, and Tiger Woods's name in golf is a brand in itself.

i think it's worth it for Nike to keep him for a while longer, Jack's record or no Jack's record

Couldn't you see him using Titleist woods, Mizuno or Miura irons, Vokey's and his Cameron again?  Rocking a black staff bag with a big sponsor plastered on it.  How cool would it be to see Tiger play whatever he wanted... no strings, sponsors, money attached.  Go find the 14 best clubs for you Mr Woods.
Would love to see this

TW will be a brand just like Jumpman is, even after Tiger stops playing.  Tiger will always have an affiliation with Nike, just like MJ.
But this is more likely.

Tiger will leave Nike when Arnold Palmer no longer associates himself with Lamkin and Callaway.  Tigers indentity is Nike, plain and simple

Although I doubt it would happen, I would love to see this scenario. I would like to see all the pros choose their equipment rather than sign contracts first and then play what the company gives them. However it seems to me that we as fans put more meaning into the clubs that pros play than they do. They seem to put more importance on the money and the contract, knowing that almost any manufacturer can give them clubs that will work.

Woods will not be going to another company that's not under the Nike umbrella, ever. There's no reason to discuss it.

I guess you know nothing or remember the hundreds of women Jordan slept with and the scandal that led to his wife finally divorcing him? Or the partying with 18-20 year old chicks down in North Carolina? Or the gambling the night before a playoff game aginst the Knicks until 3am?

Woods won't always be linked to that evening and what transpired over the couple months that followed. It's rarely mentioned anymore and it's only been three years or so. The only people that seem to contonually bring up that time are the people who seem to have an ax to grind for whatever reason. That time is now a footnote and most have moved past it. The sponsors obvioulsy have. So have the women that Woods has been partying it up with. Woods and Nordegren have moved on and maybe it's time for others to do so as well.
