Didn't Mickelson win with a futura? I certainty recall him using one for a stretch...

I actually liked that putter. Got a nice chunk a change when I swapped it for a Newport...

The models might be hard to find pics of, but if you could go back into the 60s and some other older eras, you will probably see some crazy stuff.  The putter rules were looser than they are today up until the Snead croquet ruling in 67.  I believe that's when they installed the dimension requirements and put a angle requirement on the shaft.  Man, just go find some pics of some old Ping prototypes from back in the day.

It had 3 different faces, one soft, medium and firm. I never had one and cant remember if they were interchangable or if you picked the one you wanted. Seems to me they were replaceable but i could be wrong.

I went and looked at the STX website and I believe most of their putters now have removable faces

Yeah i think I remember reading somewhere (probably here some where) years ago that you could send them in and they would replace the insert for a cost. Which seems like a huge wast of time for that putter. To be honest, I have rolled them a few times with the firm insert (on crappy industrial carpet at Play it again sports) and it wasn't really that bad, and I actually remember thinking how easy it was to find the center of the face.

How about VJ winning the Masters with the Dandy.  I got one.  Freaky, but worked great.

I don't remember if he won with it, but Gene Littler used a Basakward for a while.  They were very common, but the Zebra was a weird looking tool, particularly in context of time of introduction.

I remember seve using one called a plop in the nineties, can't remember if he won though. The ping doc 17 incher was pretty strange, think mark James won with hat one.

Antonio Maldonado won the Mexican Open with a PING Craz-E.  What makes it unique is that it is actually the junior/kids version of the putter. :good:

The original STX Sync Tour was not interchangeable but the later versions were. I recall Jesper using the STX during the 1997 Open Championship @ Royal Troon

I have owned one of each.... I liked the changeable one especially on fast greens but have since gotten rid of the putter

Thinking of the STX I mentioned prompted me to visit their website to see if they had any info on "classic" or "retired" clubs.

If anyone wants a good chuckle, especially anyone who likes to complain about TM or any other OEM's marketing efforts, should really check it out. It's Bizarre Chic, feels totally phony and really does nothing to make me want to put a putter of theirs in the bag,
