When I saw the ad I was wondering what Johnson, Garcia, et al where thinking when that face paint was being put on them.
There wasn't any paint put on thier faces.....all done with editing.

So the face paint is as fake as the claims of more yardage?

I am trying to imagine how a young Jack Nicklaus, or Arnold Palmer would have reacted if their sponsor company pitched them the idea of wearing face paint for a commercial.  Hmmm.   What about Hogan?  I don't get it. Is it war paint, or some sort of decoration?  What happens if you go to war with your paint on, and then get waxed, or maybe choke down the stretch. I bet you would look pretty foolish....... well I guess that you would look foolish regardless.

Not everyone will remember but TM wasn't always on top or even very relevant (think bubble shafts and nubbins putters).

They've made some ballsy marketing  moves but you have to give them credit... It works.

Their marketing team has been reduced to using war paint on grown men.  :cheesy:

By reduced do you mean being one of the most marketable golf companies in the world while having an increasing ROI year after year after year? This coming from a guy that hates the cheesiness of TM marketing but respects their efforts in becoming one of the most profitable OEM's in the game.

What could be worse then all those horrible Callaway commercials in Las Vegas hitting balls over the belagio or from building to building!
With a disclaimer that said, "This never happened"  Gee thanks.  Then why did you show it?  That takes the cake, with the Taylormade Ultimate Warrior commercial right behind it.

The print ads do look Photoshopped IMO, and motion editing face paint on to moving faces is VERY easy these days for an advertising multi media department. I've personally had to add glasses and a sport coat to a guy who was being interviewed so he didn't look like such a slop. It's very easy if you have the tools and experience.

ON the other hand it would probably be cheaper to just hire a make-up artist to go on location and paint their faces, but maybe not if the editing crew is already in-house...

Does anyone care? :scare2:      Marketing>R&D

Oh, come on. Look at how much of the spot has painted faces in it. Time in a Flame suite for 2K/HD goes for around $1,000 an hour at any reputable post house. It would take days and not look anywhere close to just doing it in-camera.

The "Face Paint Truthers" need to deal with it. The staff let TM paint their faces.

Do you think proshops will start stocking r1 face paint? You know, right alongside lip balm, sunscreen and bug spray?

Or does it come with a purchase of an r1...

I don't know about you guys, but along with, extra tee's, gloves, ball markers, etc, I am adding face paint to the bag this year.

Face Paint + Screaming "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM" off the tee, will strike fear into my playing partners.  Only thing I could think of to further intemidate would be to carry a .357 Mag to the tee.

DIVOT THE CLOWN to it's roster this year?

As opposed to the war paint that is typically used on children? Children usually go to war? What?

Yikes...

Any chance we hear those clowns yelling "face paint!" after DJ tees off?
