Notice that Nike Tour drivers do not have alignment aids.
The 510TP, still argued as one of the best looking drivers of all time, had a small alignment aid that was the same color as the crown.
The 975/983 series had a small black alignment on a grey body.

These clubs were straight as an arrow and did not need optics.

The putters that are desirible and wanted are the "naked" putters, devoid of dots or lines.

Optics is another crutch for people that think it's going to help.  If you can't deliver the club square through the hitting zone, no alignment/optics will help you.  But it will piss off the player that doesn't need it or is distracted by it.

This where I think Ping has won over, their designers get it.

you realize black is a color right?

I dunno, a physics teacher once told me black is the absence of color, but my graphic visualization teacher said black is a color because it's a molecular coloring agent and white is not a color, but my daughter said black is a color because it comes in the Crayon box. However! all three people agreed the new TM drivers are ugly.

:Schooled:

That's funny

Black is the absence of color in the spectrum, but when referring to the crown of a golf club, which is a paint, it is a color, it is the color black.

The best way to voice one's dislike of the new design trends  is not to buy them, but I think they are here to stay.

Ahhh, but color is nothing more than visible light reflected into our eyes, so given a black crown is it really even there? According to quantum mechanics it just might be everywhere!

You guys spend too much time looking at your club. :)

You could paint a purple pixie on the crown of my driver - I'd never notice it.

Of course, I also don't get distracted by someone three fairways over sneezing during my back swing. So maybe  I'm weird. :)

If clubs with graphics didn't sell, the club manufacturers wouldn't make them.  The white headed driver from Taylormade was pure genius.  Genius not from a performance aspect, but genius from a marketing aspect.  That white driver is instantly recognized on TV broadcasts without anyone saying a word about it because everybody knows Taylormade drivers are white.  The funky crown graphics are just icing on the marketing cake.

Taylormade claims that the new crown graphics actually help alignment and setup because it creates negative space with the white.  So there's that

The new G25 is a great looking club. Another post mentioned the similar looks to the Ryoma. Either way the new Adams and ping g are on my list.

U - G - L - Y they aint got no aliby. They ugly, what, what, they ugly. Just can't get into the white headed stuff. Much less the graphics. I did like the diablo driver a few years back where you could see the carbon fiber on the crown. That looked really good to me.

I prefer a classic looking head with maybe a small alignment mark.  I am ok even with the all white heads or all blue, etc. It's when it start to look like NASCAR that I draw the line.

It's funny how crown graphics are polarizing - - you either like them or you don't - - but everytime a new shaft is shown on the site with bright colors and the whole gamut of graphics they seem to be well liked by most - - go figure.

Probably because people's eyes don't focus on them.

Personally I don't like loud graphics or colors on my shafts.

All the OEM's make quality products. They have to or they couldn't stay in business. It all comes down to personal preference. Just because someone doesn't like a particular OEM doesn't mean they make junk. Oy vey...

They don't.  Lime green was translated to "douchebag" the minute they were released.

Logo down is preferred by most golfers for that reason.  Think of it.  If all this garbage was on the sole of a black driver, would anyone be complaining as loudly?

If I could afford to buy it right now, I would likely find to R1 to be a fine work of art, a beauty to behold.

But I can't afford it, so I have convinced myself of its ugly unsightliness.

We'll see how my opinion (and others) are modified as time passes.

Just wait....within 3 years when white and color has become std. issue (it pretty much is at this point) someone (most likely TM) is going to have a huge back in black campaign. I already hear ACDC blasting in the background and everyone will be talking about how lame white is and how cool it is to rock a black driver!!!
