Looks great as the i20 looks great, as the anser line looks great but where is product diffentiation in Ping current line? The three lines are so similar with similar head shape, similar mat black crown, black face, black/grey shaft...

Kinda sad to see the "swollen iron" look go away in the hybrid line.

Also, I honestly can't tell the difference now between i20, Anser, and g25 hybrid. They look identical.

I agree, at least with the hybrids. The Anser and the G25 look nearly identical. However, I think Ping is trying to keep the looks of the 3 lines very similar ( all matte finishes) to aid their fitting. A player doesn't have to sacrifice looks to get what performs. I bet when you get them to the monitor, they perform distinctly different. The Anser will be the lowest spinning driver/fairway, the i20 will be the most workable, and the G25 will be the easiest to launch. But this could be a (newly) Ping homer rationalizing. I'm torn between the Anser and G25 3 wood (but my Anser driver is safe).

Nice pictures and write up!  Ping should have you take the pictures that it uses on it's website.  It looks like the woods have gone up for sale at various retailers today also.

Without knowing any of the tech, it looks like the G25 line is a rebadged I20 line. But that's not such a bad thing because they look great. I'd be curious to give these a shot because the Anser and G20 drivers with the right shaft were solid, as were the I20 FWs right out of the box. They are making some good clubs these days.

EDIT - the looks comment was not meant to be negative, I know the I20 weighting is different, but just based on the address angle, they look similar.

The aesthetics of the driver are great. 45.75" driver length as standard? Still not understanding this.

I agree, the player will focus less on the look of the club and more on the performance. This might prove to be a genius move.

+1. They keep making this line of heads more forgiving with each iteration, indicating they want to make it easier to hit the ball. Yet the shaft length remains one of the longest in the industry. At least there is a weight port that will presumably allow club makers to add hot melt to adjust the swingweight when fitting a shorter aftermarket shaft.

No info on the aerodynamics of these heads?  Looks like they have some slotting to reduce drag.

TGW.com says that the Aldila Phenom, Fujikura Blur Red, and Diamana 'Ahina will also be shaft options for the G25 driver.  Can anyone confirm this?

Those are the stock options for the Anser, did they maybe just reuse that part of the description? Or maybe they are planning to swap shafts between the two and sell people what they want. Either way, the drop down on the site only lets you pick the TFC shaft for the G25 right now.

Not sure at all. I just read that folks have had trouble removing it from the Anser driver. Maybe this if for PING's use only. :dntknw:

I wonder if the Ping stock shaft will be a .335 tip like they did for the Anser woods.

"to get more distance – launch the ball higher and faster with less spin.

Marty Jertson, senior design engineer for Ping, said that engineers moved the center of gravity (CG) substantially lower and further back than the company’s previous model, the G20"

I have no doubt that this club will perform but that line of "moving the CG.....increase launch.........lower spin.........to get more distance......." is getting to sound like a broken record.  EVERY oem is handing us this line every year.  What do they do?  Geesh move it a micrometer every year?  How many times can they do this.  :D

I think even though the previous G hybrids looked pretty damn odd, they matched the irons well because the long irons did have that same amount of offset. Can't say that for the G25 hybrids really, even though they look better.

On the topic of forgiveness, Ping on their website calls the G20 hybrid forgiveness as "maximum", which was the same designation as the K products. But the G25 hybrid is listed as "extreme" forgiveness. So maybe they are slightly less forgiving.
