What are your golf related New Years resolutions?  I want to be able to shot in the 70's consistently. Right now Im averaging between 81-86 due to my terrible putting. I miss everything outside of 4 feet it seems, and im only about 50% from 3-4 feet. I have seen some improvement because I have been practicing my  A** off, but I can tell im still no where near average with the putter.

What are you goals for the new year? Do you have a plan on how you will obtain them?

1.) To play smarter golf (know when to take driver or back down to 3 wood or hybrid, avoiding hazards, hitting the fat part of the green, etc.) in order to consistently break 100.
2.) No 3 putts

To play smarter golf (short game chipping closer to the pin, avoiding hazards, hitting the fat part of the green, etc.) in order to consistently shoot in the 80's.
2.) practice my putting & chipping more often.  No 3 putts.

To not change equipment so much and no 3 putts and to always stay under 80 if possible and to condition and practice as much as possible!

Drop handicap by 3 shots and hit more greens.

BTW does anyone think dropping 14 shots in one year is too much to believe?

depends on where you start from.... if you start as a 36 handicap its fairly easy to pick up 14 strokes in a year, on the other hand if you are a 14 and you say you got to scratch then thats a lot harder to believe

My goal for this year is to have several rounds in the 70's which will also lower the GHIN to single digits.

1:  To lose my ego at times and take more club into the green.
2:  To play 3 new courses that I have never played or haven't played in a long time.
3:  To walk more this year.

I really try not to create "score goals" or "percent goals" as they put a lot of pressure on you and usually end up having the opposite effect.

Get as close to scratch as possible through;

Limiting 3 putts.
More thoughtful shot selection.
Improved practice especially putting and short game.

1. Break 80
2. Get my GIR up, my average is pathetic right now. Lots of range time in my future.

Remembering its just a game and that I'm way better than I think, so stop thinking and just hit the ball.

You're a member of golfwrx, you've already accomplished that. ;)

My goal, drop my handicap to single digit by learning to putt. Averaging 38 / round is flat out horse dung and I'm going to correct it no matter what it takes. Hypnosis?

1) Keep losing weight so that I can enjoy life... and of course, so that I can rotate a lot more, LOL.
2) Improve my GIR average (currently around 20%, want it at least at 35-40%).
3) Significantly reduce 3-putts (current average is one 3-putt every 15.8 holes - kept stats for all of the 75+ rounds I played during 2012).

1. Fix my swing by making it into an easily repeatable accurate swing.
2. Work on my short game until I limit my mishits to 2 or less per 18 holes
3. learn to putt better
4. Play with more focus

Wow.  #2 looks like it will be a tough one to hit.  But at least you've set a goal.

Break 80 on a consistent basis and tame my hook. I really need to learn how to fade the ball.

Last year I renewed my whole bag and went through five sets of irons (all bought used though) figuring out what I really liked. This season I'll be going back to taking lessons to get more consistent with the irons I've decided to stick with. I should probably start already by training my core muscles, especially back.

1) Not lose it on the course anymore and keep my putter shaft straight!
2) Straighten out the tee game a little more
3) Get around a 5 hdcp this year

1. Shoot in the 80s all summer, maybe even break 70 one or twice
2. Get almost all my tee shots in the fairway
3. 1 3 putt or less a round

4. Get good enough to convince my parents to get me a new set of clubs, custom fit, etc and let out my inner ho

Work on my putting.  I need to practice putting more instead of just hitting the range.
