Title pretty much says it all, I am new to the area and I am looking for a range with heated tee boxes and maybe grab a beer afterwards.

Jspangler what's your handicap?  I'll be living in the Jackson area beginning next month I'm always looking to play with better players than me.  I think GR is only an hour or so away.

GR is 1:30 to 1:45 from Jackson.   I am in Battle Creek and I make it up to GR to play with dozer and OD from time to time.  Maybe we can join up sometime as well.

I have a college buddy that lives near Jackson. Some nice courses up there at very reasonable rates.  He got a nice rate on a family membership.

There are a lot of nice courses in the Jackson/Lansing area.   Where did he get a membership at?

Oops, meant to include that.  He was at Calderone Farms for few seasons, but moved over to The Grande last season and re-newed for this year.

what did they hit you up for?

Thousand Oaks has a really nice facility, but they charge like $25 for an hour...unlimited balls during that time, no Doppler hardware though.

Golf Emporium will do $20 with Flight Scope for around an hour...I like this option cause you get to see Angle of Attack, Club Head Speed, Ball Speed, etc...instead of just banging on balls you get some metrics too. It is not Trackman but it is the best we have over here in Dutch land.

All previously mentioned are heated and you can see ball flight land on a range.

Wonder what the best option is for us on the other side of the state.  I used the track man at PI last year but am in the process of relocating so I don't buy the pass this year.  Carl's is ok but you don't get any info and the balls are the worst I have ever seen on a range.  Indoor domes are cool once or twice when it's real cold but again, no info and you don't see the whole ball flight.  Sounds like you guys don't have it too bad over there.

B,
Miles of Golf is the place to go. They do a good job keeping you warm and they have Trackman the Game there. The balls are in good shape to. I usually go once a week to hit balls. Haven't been since before Christmas so it's time for me to get back out there

Maple hill got me for $27 for an hour with no radar or anything. It is as many balls as you can hit but dang it's a lot, I'm pretty sure Miles was like 25 a month for unlimited trackman use last winter and they gave you two large buckets a month with that also. Carl's probally had just the best just range price, they were $8 for a large bucket with GAM card.

I'd pay a few extra bucks for range balls that don't fly in an S shape like at Carl's (the one in Plymouth, at least).  I do still buy stuff there to support a local company--just bought grips there recently--but I'll drive the extra 20 minutes to Miles for a more useful range experience.  Plus, I take lessons there.

$27/hour is insane, though.  I've never been anywhere that charges by the hour.  Seems counterproductive to practice that way, because I'd be trying to hit as many as possible to get my money's worth, and that kind of practice isn't very useful.

Ya I didn't mind the time actually because it let me work on my short game without feeling I'm wasting a ball, I probably hit 150 20 yd chips. What I did notice though was a lot of the bays were used my groups so they must split the cost which would be bad I guess. I will probably still make the trip to Miles on a regular basis. I am actually kinda sad that Chris Dewulf their clubmaker no longer works there. When dealing with him I knew I was getting the best work and no he wasn't going to rip me off, that's worth it's weight in gold in my opinion.

Didn't realize Chris had left.  Glad I started doing my own grips.  I'm having fun with it, so i was probably going to start doing any other work myself, too (not that there's much else I get done regularly)

Thanks for the info, I was wondering what happened to him, I had some clubs reshafted, then I called up like 2 weeks later and they said Chris had taken a leave and that's all they said.

I normally head to The Golf Emporium up here in Rockford. Large bucket is $8 from what I can remember. Not really interested in practicing or in need of where the ball is landing exactly. Just out there keeping the club feeling comfortable in my hand through the winter.
