Looking to find someone who can cut off a plumbers neck and weld a flow neck. Being lefty I cannot find a putter that has the same style neck a scotty Newport 1.5 formally the 2.5 style neck for older models.

Thank you for referring someone. I was thinking slighter or llamont but was not sure.

I'm sorry but that just seems nuts. There are any number of putter makers who make flow-neck putters. That's one of the most common styles in the custom/boutique putter market. You're talking about buying an expensive Scotty Cameron putter then spending a couple hundred more bucks to have it chopped and re-necked? All because you think you'll like it without having seen it first?

Sounds like a good way to be out 400 bucks for nothing.

I actually just mentioned a scotty cameron to refer the style neck I want on his current 2012 1.5.  Being lefty it's hard to find one to see it first so why don't you find me one located here in CT to look at. I actually gamed a Scotty Cameron 2.5 when they made them in lefty back in the day so that's how I know I like that neck. If I spent $300 on a putter with a plumbers neck and $100 for a welded neck put on that runs he about the same as a custom putter made specifically. Just seeing my options first. I've gotten quotes from Machine golf and Tom slighter already on a custom made putter

He's lefty and that narrows the options a lot.  Old Guy deals with this all the time and occasionally buys plumbers necks before I make him sell them because he sucks with plumbers necks.  But he's damned good with a flow neck and over hosel shaft.

OP, Slighter or LaMont would be a good call.  If you want one built to your specs, contact Byron Morgan.  He can get you a DH-89 with a Rincon neck in your choice of carbon or stainless and all the finish options you could ever want.  Length, loft, lie, weight to your specs

Thanks for the advice Stage. I looked into Byron, but things add up quick and its far too expensive. I've been talking to Tom Slighter through his website and he seems to know exactly what I want and can make it happen for a reasonable price.

You are right on with Tom Slighter, he is the most responsive and seems to be the go to guy for major putter mods.  I've had work done by him and it was fantastic.  Good luck!

Funny this topic should come up, I have a 2003 Scotty Studio stainless newport 11 back on its way to me.  I had Lamont do the exact same thing to mine as you are taliking about.  I chose this one because the stainless is much better than the newer ones.  I should have it next week and will post pics.

Lamont has my Xmas present on it's way, should receive today and will post pics.  The softtail is an awsome putters, David makes something for everyone.  The Softtail and Fleetwood are my favorites.

OK guys, here's the putter that I just got back from Lamont.  This head is pretty rare in that it is a 350 head newport 11 with the thick face and one of the most solid feeling heads there is.  Lamont did an awsome job on the neck and face milling.  The old plumber neck is lighter than a flowneck so the headweight ended up around 355 after all the sanding and face milling.  The first pic is jsut how I got it back, the second is after I had done alot of sanding and polishing and is now ready for the finish and paintfill.  I should have it completed in a couple of days.

About half of that I'm guessing, Lamont hasn't sent me the invoice, + my time for the refinish.  I'll sum it up when I get it done.

But you already had the Cameron on hand?

I thought the original poster was going to buy a plumber's neck Scotty just for this project. Which I thought made it an overly expensive proposition. Maybe I misunderstood. Very different situation if you already have a putter and just have to pay for the neck work.

Finally finished the putter, Lamont did some awsome custom work.  I think It turned out quite nice and really feels solid. It was alot of fun working on it and gave me something to do in the shop, not sure if I will keep or not as I have been invited on a spring golf trip.

(i have a problem looking at double bend shafts)

& mr heavy -  the Big Sur  has a KC shaft weight to balance the it.
