At my local GS(part-time gig) I'm in the store grabbing a few last minute kids to Daddy gifts.......low and behold I think I see a ghost!!! Jack Nicklaus and lovely wife Barbara walk in!!

I reach out and greet him with a firm handshake......and let him finish his shopping. I did ask The Mrs. how the 18 grands are doing and she responded "It's 22!! " . Small talk continues.....Nick playing for FSU in Orange Bowl; how's Jackie doing?( Caddied for him once) blah blah blah....well turns out they are looking for a pull cart for one of the grandkids I nervously asked him for a pic and he obliged.

Great Day!!

My all-time sports icon, That would have been incredible. Smart too, bringing up the grandkids, almost always a sure-fire way to get the conversation going. People love to talk about their grandkids (as we anxiously await our first).

But Jack? handshake? c'mon..........like I said, caddied for Jackie, played scramble with Gary.......but Pops is a different ilk.........made my week and I don't get starstruck too often!!

Great story.  Does anyone else think it is funny that Jack is out shopping for a pull cart of all things?

It is funny seeing the greatest of all time, getting his picture taken in the silly section of the big box golf store.

Cool sighting.

Excellent! What a nice surprise.

Be great if he went to look at some clubs and wasn't recognized by the sales kid.

Congrats, Lawrence and Merry Christmas to you!

All I get to do is hang out at the Old Guy's house.  I think you got the better end of the deal.  Though I do get to enjoy some time holding my new one month old niece.

Lefty Anser irons will be delivered to the Old Guy over breakfast.  We'll see if he likes the oversized Gripmaster leather that's on them.  [/extra pimp]

The 983E is a 6.5° LDA model and will be getting a Blueboard X installed all the way in.  It should be fun.

Off to STL for Christmas!

I would never burden Swooshie with having to claim me as the fruit of his loins.  The Old Guy gets that honor and his handle here is DaOldGuy.

His Ansers are returning with KBS Tour S softstepped once, swingweighted to D4 +- 1/4 point.  38.5" 5 iron (1/2" over) and have black perf Gripmaster Oversize wraps.  They are as big or even bigger than the Winn Dri Tac Midsizes he has been using (arthritis is a b-otch).

Since they are wraps instead of Stitchbacks, they are tackier.  Wipe them down occasionally with a damp towel and that's it.  Gripping them with a glove sounds like pulling masking tape off the roll.  Schtickkkkkky!

His new bag:

Ping Anser 10.5 currently with Diamana Ahina 70-S, possibly rotating to a different shaft
TEE 15° 3wd with Diamana 70-S and Gripmaster LH Wrap smooth black leather
TEE 18° and 21° hybrids with Speeder 904-S and Gripmaster LH Wrap smooth black leather
Ping Anser 5-PW w/ KBS Tour S and Gripmaster Oversize wrap leather
Cleveland 588 Forged 52,56,60° with Tour Concept and (soon to be) Gripmaster Oversize wrap leather
Ping Anser 4 milled with lizard leather grip.  Or one of his badass Bettinardi Tour Southpaws
Old School Ping T11-SL Sheepskin lined staff bag.

Top it off with some JuJu covers and he should be pimpin in the Senior Leagues.

He looks good.

Amazing to see him looking so relaxed, ready to celebrate x-mas with his family

And remember how viciously and precisely he used to beat on a golf ball!
