I just remember my dad treating his cork on his Bass rods, and cant remember how...vaseline or something similar to prevent drying?

and then I can get this SNL clip out of my head too

It's a new ball company out of NH. it's a 3 piece ball that absolutely put my pro v to shame. I'm a player thats always trying new equipment in the off season and replacing the old if it's beaten. The Pro V went in my bag in 2001 and has been there ever since with nothing coming close to it's performance. The 3UP 3F12 took 4 holes before I wasn't even reaching for my Pro V anymore for comparisons.

if you want to give them a try their site is www.3upgolf.com and they offer 3 ball sleeves for 10.50 or dozens for 39.99 it's tough not to try a players ball for 10.50 in my opinion though.

Scungi, I'm not sure about any need for treatment...I'll email my guys at salty today and see what they recomend if anything. I know i never personally treated any of my rod handles.

Ordered a dozen. I play a srixon z-star... Pretty comparable? I always thought the z-star outperformed the pro-v's... Actually not a huge fan of pro-v's... I.... (Sinner)... Like the NXT Tour better than the pro-v's... I know... Evil... But my ball is the srixon... What do you compare these to?

Maybe...but I still say no paint fill on torched putters...

Yeah yeah! We know!    I agree with ya, I think I would have them put a clear in their just to make it reflect at the right angle but I wouldn't use a color. Just not sure anything would look good, but of all the suggestions I think a translucent smoke has been the best so far...will reserve till we see it though! I think if I have them do another one I am going to have them torch the heck out of it so we get those super bright hues I saw on Facebook...

I think the super bright hues also depend on what type of metal is used. We have the options for the most part of 1018, 303 SS and 4140. I think it also depends on whether or not the putter was polished, shot peaned to smooth out mill marks or left raw...i've never worked with metal before, but I think all the little details play a huge part in what kind of colors can be brought out.

Curious what metal and how they did that super colorful one...wonder if that is a softer or harder metal

"Great thing about our process is no two putters are the same. Temperature is the key to colors. Certain temps produce certain colors in certain materials. A polished surface produces more vibrant colors, a bead blasted surface usually produces more ofa flat, dark color pattern.

Quenching (air, oil, or water) also plays a part. Each material has different charactistics which play a role in color and color patterns. Stainless steel seems to be the best for bright colors. Yellows, reds, pink and golds. The 1018 and 4140 have more of a bluefish color pattern."

Sweet, so the 303 with a polished finish then take the 'gas' to it...torch it to desire.. Will definately remember that.. Seein lots of pics and work on their Facebook page as well... They are doing exceptional work!

I may be mistaken but I think  the puck on the blue/green torched fin says 303 stainless.
