Hi gang,

My wife surprised me with a trip for 2 to myrtle beach for my birthday. I'm leaving the Mar. 16th and will be coming home the 19th.

I'd like to get one round in on the 19th and 2 rounds in each day following. I'm staying at the Partricia Grand?? on N. Ocean Blvd.

I'm looking for some Affordable course suggestions around the area. We'll be renting a car so, driving isn't too much of an issue. Since I'm looking to squeeze 5 rounds in a short period of time, I don't want to break the bank. Any suggestions for getting good package deals with great courses? Thanks!

I did some searching and came accross a reference to Golfdesk.

I called and spoke to Mark Stonegate (very helpful).

I scheduled 4 courses for $258/person.

3/16 - Indigo creek

3/17 - Sea Trail (Jones & Byrd Course)

3/18 - Myrtle Wood (Palmetto)

Any feedback on these courses?

I have played Indigo creek and Myrtlewood Palmetto. Both are pretty good courses, typical beach courses. Years ago the Palmetto course was top notch, it has dropped a bit, but is still a great value. Enjoy.

Sea Trail is great, I have played all three, and would rate them in this order. All are great courses when compared to what else is out there.
1) Jones- good greens, alot of undulation on the entire course. Memorable holes.
2) Byrd- water everywhere. A pretty nice resort course
3) Maples- Shot my lowest round ever here playing it the first time. That doesn't mean its easy, I just got lucky and had a stretch on the back nine where I had 3 birds in a row. Good layout. I'd say the easiest of the 3, but still a decent challenge. Also alot of gradient on this course.

Can't go wrong with either of these three courses. This link shows you the package rates, per person. http://www.seatrailg...it/specials.htm

Another one I really liked was Arrowhead in Myrtle Beach. A very nicely laid out course with many great looking holes, and views of the waterway. This one will make you think.

The Legends (Mooreland Course) is a great course. You should check it out.

I also agree on the legends Courses... http://www.legendsgolf.com/

I would also check this site for reviews and ratings of MB courses http://www.mbga.com/COURSES.HTM

DUMP the Indigo Creek, I played it a long time ago and it was REALLY bland with houses all over the place. Any Legends group course would be fine. It all depends on golf surcharges really.....check out this website, it is very non-biased and quite helpful!

played mooreland last weekend, it is a wicked course. One of the hardest in the nation and well maintained to boot. The greens are fast and true.

also played heathland and fazio at barefoot. Heathland was terrible. The greens were dead and bumpy, the layout was boring. Fazio had a pretty layout, it was so windy that day that I didn't really get to enjoy the round so I can't tell you much about the course other than its pretty.

I found out first hand Myrtle tends to get terribly windy in late feb and march. be sure to pack your low game!

You have to add Leopard's Chase to the best of Myrtle Beach list.
