Not a thrift store but another Craigslist find for me.
I haven't taken a full inventory yet but there are probably thirty 6 irons, shaft optimizer club, and fitting bag.
Likely from the mid to late 2000s. I know I saw a MX25 and an MP67.
Should be fun to mess around with on the Skytrak.

A buddy of mine is a Mizuno rep and he throws his 6 Iron demo clubs in the garbage when clubs are discontinued.   Kids in his neighborhood used to dig them out so he started donating them to Goodwill.  I don;t think he's allowed to sell them.

Found this in the bargain bin at the local Salvation Army, $1.50, not sure if it was worth it though. Kinda looks like a Cheap Chinese Knockoff where a Cameron Futura had sex with a Two Ball Knockoff and created a 3 Ball Bastardization. And then the company was proud enough to stamp their name on it just the same. Sorry for any nightmares this may cause.

Found this Slazenger Kirk Currie PBP1 today. I miss my old phosphor bronze ping anser and this has a nice dalehead shape to it.

Does anyone know anything about these?  I know nowadays Slazenger makes budget equipment, but this putter looks like it's got some less "budget" appointments. Stuff like the milled face, being made of bronze, and the welded bore through hosel.

Also, I checked the hosel with a magnet and the "knuckle" is steel but the bore that goes through the head isn't magnetic.  Aluminum perhaps?

Kirk Currie is one of favorite putter designers.  He's done work for Lynx, Slazenger, Wilson and his own line.  If you want to she his finest designs, look for his own line (100% milled stainless with adjustable weight plates).  My favorite is the Brazos model.

edit: I forgot Precept... he's done a lot!

That neck looks like someone did some hillbilly club work.  Look at his other necks and make your own determination but I've never seen another one like that.

Thanks for the info!  Ive seen a few different brands with his name on them. Was Slazenger a more high profile manufacturer back when he was doing putters for them or were they always budget models?

I did a bit of searching online and did notice the majority of the Slazenger models were pipe for flow necks.

However, I just now found a similar model with a similar neck on it. Instead of PBP1 this one is a PCP1.  Possibly a copper model? I figured the PB stood for phosphor bronze.

Slazenger got into club fitting big time in the mid to late 90's.  I know because I was a fitter.  The Currie putters were part of that and very ahead of their time. They came with a putter fitting cart that had bending equipment mounted to it. When fitting someone for a putter, you would check their aim with a laser device and then bend the putter to give them the right amount of offset so that the putter was aimed at the target correctly.  And of course, you could adjust lie right there on the cart. Plus you could cut the length and install an assortment of grips on the putter right in front of the customer.  It was a very impressive system and way ahead of its time. I still have two of those Kirk Currie putters.  A bronze blade like yours and a stainless mallet with an insert.  They both have that same hosel design.

I see that plumbers neck/flow neck combination on some old Slazenger putters but yours looked ďmessyĒ. Iíd check the loft and lie to make sure things are correct. After that, enjoy!

KC is one of the best of all time. As others have pointed out. His Wilson line was amazing as well. I've had several of his Slazenger models over the years. Among the most underrated and great value putters ever made.

The plumbers neck models weren't as versatile in terms of fitting.  You could take the ones with the flow neck and get the same putter head to either face balance or toe hang depending on what you wanted.  That always amazed me but there were precise instructions on how much bend to put on a hosel to get it to do whatever you wanted.

Probably my favorite driver I ever owned until the head cracked. Hard to come by in good shape these days, if it was in decent shape I'd have been all over it.

At three bucks man don't even waste the coupon.

I got one of those a few years back from GW...the #2 model though.

I passed on a busted 6,8,9 Cleveland Launcher irons last night. Too bad the rest of the clubs weren't there.  Grabbed a Ping Eye 2 9 iron (not sure why - I guess I thought maybe I could salvage the shaft?).

Grabbed an Odyssey black series tour design #4 last night at goodwill for $4.50, in absolute mint condition, barely a scratch, except for the hosel seems to be slightly bent. It's got a more than the 3* original loft, and sits a little closed. My bet is the guy bought his nice new milled putter, 3 putted one too many times, and jammed it in to the ground before dumping it at Goodwill.

Never dealt with fixing something like this, but I assume it's an easy and cheap fix at any golf shop.

If I see how the hossel is bent...you might be able to just throw it in a vice and gently bend it back to normal. I'd have to see what it looks like.

I'll see about those pics when I'm home from work, but yeah it's sitting at a high loft and closed face, just like the kind of upwards twisting pressure you'd get from jamming the toe in to the ground.

It's definitely Goodwill season in Canada, snows melting and they are bringing out all the clubs that were donated over the winter and putting them out for sale again. Last year I got a Ping tour S wedge that I actually use, and an older Talyormade center shaft putter that I flipped on kijji for $20. Going to stop by another two stores on my way home tonight to see what I can add to the collection.

Some times those weird bend on the neck can be difficult to sort out. I have to see it to give you an idea.

More clubs getting donated nowadays in Minnesota now too since the snow season seems to be wrapping up.

Iíve picked up a Taylor Made 300 series-era and a 2000-ish Titleist, as well. A Snickers candy bar themed was the funniest that Iíve EVER seen but I passed on... it was at Saverís in New Brighton/NE Mpls, several years ago. I wish that I hadnít and went back later that day but it was gone.
