Today Adam Scott didn't carry his usual belly putter instead he had a custom Scotty Golo with an adjustable length shaft.

He was playing with Tom Watson and a young guy from China (Mu Hu), the chinese guy asked him about it and Adam said it was adjustable.

He was using the claw for him bottom hand and his top hand was super weak with the grip held against his left wrist. His tempo and distance control was very good so I reckon he's been practicing with this for a while. The putter came up to his belt top so I'm guess it was around 38-39" long.

Pics aren't great but you'll see what I mean.

p.s. My best mate and I both got photos with Tom Watson, what a true gentleman he is.

Is he anchoring it? Hard to tell in the first pic.

I attached another photo which shows the shaft and butt are a long way from his body. My guess is he's doing something similar to Kuchar.

Makes sense, it didn't look like the shaft was locked like the Ping Nome Belly. Adam motioned to the guy in his group that it was adjustable by twisting the grip to unlock the shaft.

FWIW, it definitely had Circle T on the sole.

My goodness does he look uncomfortable in that first picture. I really hope this ruling doesn't affect him too bad. A guy with that kind of swing who was seemingly just starting to find his groove...

Agree with the other poster, he looks SUPER  awkward in that first picture. I sure hope he gets it going again.

It seems to be a clever compromise for him.  His stroke is better with the broomstick because of the way he uses his right hand.  This method allows him to use his right hand in the same way without breaking the new rules.

Good move IMO

That's definitely the shaft from the fitting tool, definitely not the head. I'm sure Scotty has made it for Adam to practice with and work our the correct length. On my fitting tool, it says unapproved for tournament play. However, it may have been deemed legal now.

It seems like most of the long/belly guys are going to go back to the traditional route. Scott seems to have adopted the Kuchar style in some shape or form. It seems like it would be easier to just use a regular putter at this point but I'm sure he knows what he's doing. I'm not so sure about the telescope putter I think that buldge would start to annoy me.

I wonder why he just doesn't keep the long putter and pull his hand off his chest a bit.  Seems like the easiest thing to do and is still very sturdy.

Good article from the Daily Telegraph.  I see he's sticking with his 910 driver too...

I think were going to see different versions of the almost belly length putters, broomstick putters held off the chest, the arm lock from players.  Personally use a short putter but recently been messing around with a long putter with my left hand off the chest and actually prefer to to anchoring it.

Yea looks like he's trying to figure out what length is going to work best for him if isn't going to anchor any mroe.

Poor dude. He's so worried about it looks like. He was so successful with the 'traditional' technique in his youth. He should do that again and just kick azz.

Let's hope for the best.

Interesting.  I hope it works out for him.  I just think the whole cheating aspect of all of this is blown out of proportion.  It still takes a damn good putting stroke to get the ball in the hole.  Anchoring or not anchoring is not the driving force to one's success.

Good eye, I'm surprised by this quite a bit.  Adam doesn't have a single 913 club in his bag (Driver, Fwy, hybrid or irons; all 910/710).  Perhaps he didn't wanna mess with a good thing during his run after the Open Championship.  Or perhaps for him the difference is negligable.  I haven't thought of AS as a ho over the years, he likely just doesn't switch things up much.

I'm sure his numbers are optimal with the 910 and when you hit the ball in the middle of the face every single time changing equipment wont make any performance benefits. Optimal is optimal. The only reason that he would change anything at this point is for a different ball flight, sound or feel.

He does look a bit uncomfortable, but what do you expect from a person practicing something new?

He looks wayyyyy on his toes and I'm going to guess it's because he is used to standing that way from using the broom...

If you look at the last pic he looks pretty comfortable and normal. I think the first couple pics distort him a bit.

His contract up at the end of the year? I know his last deal was done on 09. If so maybe he didn't want to change to 913 to change again?

What I admire about real men - even though they disagree with changes imposed by a ruling body, they take it on the chin like a man and move on.  I applaud Scott, as he has struggled with his putting.  I hope he makes it work regardless.

Glad to see Adam making adjustments now and dealing with the new rules change. As people mentioned above, that is a Scotty fitting putter that we also have in our shop except his is a circle T golo S version which I would love to own personally!
