I'm thinking of reshafting my CB4 3 wood, but I'm not sure what length I need to get back to 43"

I've been looking at some pulls, but I want to make sure I get one long enough.  One guy has an ad that says he has a shaft that measures 40.25" uninstalled, but 44" installed.  This doesn't seem to make sense, so you can see why I'm confused.  Could anyone help me out?

To be on the safe side, don't get anything shorter than 42". Don't trust what the ads say. Also check to see if it has been tipped and how much.

It entirely depends on the head configuration. Callaway shafts can go right on through to the dirt. Others have hosels shortening the shaft length by maybe 4 inches or so.  Measure your head distance from the sole to the bottom of the hosel bore and subtract it from 43" to get required shaft length.  If the shaft has not yet been removed then estimate the bore bottom. Err on a little long so you can cut the shaft a bit once the old is out and the new is ready.
