Hey everyone, I found a Phenom 60 gram shaft on eBay. I was a little confused because the Aldila website doesn't list the 60 gram shaft like it does the 50 and 70. Did Aldila make a 60 gram version besides the ones for Taylormade? This particular shaft doesn't have any of the TM graphics which is one of the reasons I want it. I'm just wondering if this shaft is legit or not.

If anyone could clear this up for me I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, no answer but aldila's web site is known for having missing entries so it wouldn't surprise me if it was legit.

Yes, they do. Originally, was Tour Only until Titleist nearly begged them to release it because of the big difference between 50 and 70. It's a GREAT shaft - nearly mid/mid (or SLIGHTLY lower in both), and SMOOTH. In a lower spinning head, it's a killer combo (i.e. 913 D2/D3).

Exactly.  They were tour only but are making their way on ebay quite often, now.  I haven't hit the 60 but have tried the 50 and 70.  The 50 was all over the place and the 70 was money for me.  I'm interested to try the 60.  I really love the Phenom... great shaft.  I currently play a 70g RIP Alpha but am not carrying the ball as far as I should be.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Yeah, I sent Aldila an email and they said it was available and the launch and bend profiles were similar to the 50 but torque was a few tenths lower. The 60X was what I inquired about specifically and they said it was 66g with torque at 3.4.

Per Aldila the RIP Phenom 60 and 80 are available now.  Poor Man's Diamana Kail'i or DI Graphite Design.

Just received my new 913 D2 with the "Reg" 60 gram Aldila Phenom shaft.  i am beginning to enjoy it more as i was unsure if i liked it during my Titleist fitting in spite of the numbers.  I definitely like the feel of this shaft vs. the older RIP shaft of the 910.  You can tell there is less spin and i know i will like this shaft.  Give it a try!!!!

I did! I put a 60X in my R11s and that thing is a straight bomber. Great shaft.

I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the Phenom. I have been playing the PX Tour Issue for a while and have grown to love the feel. In the 913 Line I was planning on going with a D+, Whiteboard, or Blueboard once I kicked my 910 out, but I am seriously considering the Phenom at this point. I normally go 60ish Gram X or 70ish Gram Stiff tipped 1/2" and the off-the-rack Phenom felt really solid with no tipping. I think once I get into one with my specs the club will really come alive. I may order one for my 910 just to grab a bit of a preview of this awesome shaft.

It's a good one man. Mid launch and pretty low spinning. I would definitely say consider putting it in the 913. It's a bomber in my R11s.

Just picked up one of these on ebay and put it in 910 d2, 1st round today and drove the ball great, great feel also. In 910d2 it is mid/high launch and mid spin. Will be better in the 913 I think this will bring the spin down.

How did it compare in launch/spin/distance vs the RIP 60 that came with the 910 D2?

I've used both in the past few days and the Phenom is a bit softer especially in the mid section, hence the much greater feel and feedback. It is higher launch and spin compared to RIP a60 which suits me as i always need more launch with driver. Distance is the same. With the 910 I think there is a touch too much spin, but I have tried the 913d2 and know it spins less so I think it will make a perfect combo for me.

Found this chart which I think is accurate.

Just wondering if someone could answer my question. I recently bought a R11s stiff flex off the rack and on the shaft it says 60grams. Looking at the shaft specs on the Taylormade website the weight for the Aldila RIP Phenom 60 stiff flex shaft is actually 62grams. Am I missing something here? What is the correct weight of the shaft? Thanks

I'm banking on this chart being true, I needed more spin than my ahina so I ordered a phenom, I'll post my results.

Mazz - the Phenom will have a little more spin than the Ahina, but if you ordered the 70 it's not a whole bunch. Does launch higher, though.
