Comments that would not be tolerated in the workplace are ok in public? The morons that makes these types of comments shouldn't be excused or encouraged - just thrown off the course.

Haha.  that's me.  P-whipped.  Nah my wife just watches a lot of golf.  And she'd beat you like a drum on the course.

That is exactly what that argument sounds like.  Does she dress you too?

Beating me on the golf course isn't that hard, but if that kind of thing turns you on, I bet I could beat her like a drum in a drum circle.

Golf is just a sport for goodness sake. The players are highly paid chimps ... they make fortunes for hitting a little ball into a little hole. This isn't rocket science or curing cancer. If any of them wants to feel put upon because they are heckled, they are free to go sell insurance in Iowa.

what a completely ignorant comment. no one here argued that any golfer is more important than doctor, teacher, or insurance man. this doesn't mean that its ok for some moron to yell dumb things at a player. a pga player who is rich doesn't deserve less respect than someone else because of what they do. in the grand scheme of things any athlete is overpaid when you compare them to many other people whether its military, doctor, police, etc, but don't act like its ok to heckle and act like a moron just because they are fortunate enough to make money playing a game.

Well, thanks for calling the comment ignorant.

Was just pointing out actual (oddly) reality. I actually think it is totally okay to heckle any sports man or woman (or any musician, or actor or actress). Sports (and music, and movies) are just entertainment. These are frivolous, meaningless people ... they do nothing but entertain. Which is cool, because human beings like to be entertained ... but at the end of the day, anyone that thinks they should be taken seriously ... just doesn't get what the world is. These aren't gods and goddesses.  Thinking they are owed some sort of respect is just silly. They make fortunes, and live in mansions ... because fans watch them. And guess what, the people that watch them have the right to have an opinion about them.

Yeah, I for some reason do not feel bad about heckling Kayne West, or Paris Hilton, or the Kardashian sisters, or Keegan (who is a total drag to watch).

You are free to call my comments "ignorant". But guess what, I have the samer right to call Keegan an idiot who is a total pain to watch.

Freedom totally sucks, no?

If a guy's inability to calm his nerves makes all of you nervous, it says more about all of you and your own demons than it does Keegan and his.

Keegan struggles with his head on National TV and is successful.  You hypocrites hide behind a screen in cyberspace and act like cowards.

Very telling, imo.

I think it's hilarious when people complain that Keegan's twitch makes them uneasy.

What does that say about their own inner ability to calm themselves?  Not much, I say.  Perhaps those folks need some introspection...

And with that, I have just been warned for calling a Bob a Bob.  Stay classy

i'm all for freedom....not really for choosing who is more important than others because of their profession and disrespecting them or showing lack of class. i'm betting keegan or most all pga players would be the first to admit in the grand scheme of things they are just entertainers that are overpaid. A fan has the right to heckle if that really  makes them feel better about themselves.

as low as you want to put entertainers on life's totem poll, i'd put classless hecklers who lack character below any overpaid entertainer.

So, we're all closet yippers who only complain about what other people do because it reminds us of ourselves?

We're "yip-o-phobes"?

This has been going on for a long longer than just this. I was at Doral a couple years ago and Boo Weekely was trying one out... There was a guy on the putting green talking smack. He kept having to move to different sides of the green.

to me heckling is fine as long its way before you swing or even after. i always thought the guy that said get in the water to Phil a couple years ago was absuletly hallarious.
Example of no class.  Golf is suppose to be a gentlemans game.  If this behavior happened at the Masters you would be escorted off of the propriety.

Exactly, this is why i love the ban. it eliminates the constant second guessing when watching a guy putt under pressure and wonder if he could do the same without the anchor. I'm sure most all pros we won't see a huge difference in stats with guys going back to short putter. the ban will eliminate the perceived cheating, and get everyone on a level playing field.

I don't understand the "level playing field" argument. Everyone is free to putt with an anchored stroke, same as everyone is free to use an oversized driver, or replace a long iron with a hybrid, or to draw a line on the ball to help with putting.

What if you had no problem with setup on an iron shot and lined up properly while I had trouble lining up. What if using alignment during a round were legal and i laid then down every shot. Level playing field even though you don't need them even though you're allowed? They'd help me but you wouldn't need them so you wouldn't use them. Anchoring is for those that need it.

I know this is illegal just an example.

Why not have your caddy check your alignment on every shot?

It's a fan right?????? Now I have heard everything. A fan is a guest be it a piano recital or a golf tournament. The number one fan responsibility is to be respectful to the performance and to  his or hers peers. The fan should not interfere nor be a side show. To think otherwise is ignorant, selfish and short sited of public opinion and behavior. My guess is that you are oblivious to comments such as down in front, please be quiet. Yet despite these you are still shown respect by other fans that wish you would "take it outside, leave or simply "shut up".  Should pro sports such as golf be like the inside of a church library or hospital, absolutely not

I don't mind watching Keegan. Some of you fellas sure are finicky.

As too the heckling? I find that to be rude behavior, and as of late our society is becoming a rude and selfish one.

No, I think you are wrong on this.  Heckling at any entertainment venue is an imposition on everyone else, unless you're at the midnight showing of Rocky Horror where audience participation is the show.  Most hecklers of entertainers are ejected, some with the beatdown that they deserve.

Regardless of my dislike for several facets of Keegan's gameplay, heckling is annoying and out of line at golf tournaments.  (with the obvious TPC of Scottsdale exception)

I'm always terrified to move when I go to a tour event and I'm standing near a guy who is about to hit a shot. They are working after all. Gotta be respectful and all that I think. Heckling or moving around burping or whistling is horrible I think.  Last thing I want to do is a distract a guy when he's trying to make a living.  Call me a hopeless romantic.

And it doesn't matter how twitchy or slow he is. All the more reason to leave the guy be. On TV though I'll admit i'll yell or whatever..but in person be respectful of the dude's office space.

Being a Stern fan he gets more BaaBaaBooey's that any golfer, and says he actually loves it since he's a fan of the show. Which is in good fun and taste and gettin paid millions like all athletes it's gon happen. Golf is probably the only place where trash talk is frowned upon until the Ryder Cup then it's ok. All other sports all you hear is trash talk all game long it's ingrained into our society, golfers just need to suck it up sometimes and realize its the minority not the majority. I think golfers need to toughen up now a days this isnt anything new there gettin paid to do what they love...

Yes, let's keep sliding towards the lowest common denominator and making allowances for oafish and boarish behaviour because of a person's personal wealth. Classy.

I think you totally are of base of what my intent is. Keegan actually loves when crazy fans scream out BaaBaaBooey to him. Obviously not during his swing and not anything derogotory or disrespectful. All in all golfers play golf for a living and distractions are part of being a pro. How many times has a camera man jacked with Tiger, almost too many too count. Some guys like DiMarco having a fan thrown out is just acting like a whiny whimp with power. I just wanted to say golfers need to just tone it out like they do all the rest of the commotion going on during a tournament. It's ingrained in sports why is golf any different???Im not condoning anyone saying anything really hurtful or immoral but heckling is just that a drunk talkin smack out his backside. Again it's the minority not the majority of fans who even do this should be a non issue.

It's ingrained in sports why is golf any different???Im not condoning anyone saying anything really hurtful or immoral but heckling is just that a drunk talkin smack out his backside. Again it's the minority not the majority of fans who even do this should be a non issue.

Again, why does golf have to be the same as any other sport? It has a fine tradition of respect and gentlemanly behaviour. Must we give up all of our traditions and behaviours for the feckless few? Why not strive to be the best, and not pander to the worst?
