I think I've found its code name in my system at work. Maybe calling it "stage 2." Not completely sure on that. It reads Taylormade Stage 2 for $299.99. Its ugly if the picture looks anything like the ones that have been leaked. The R1 is hideous and the RBZ looks like a toy. Glad I bought the original RBZ.

Hate on taylormade or not, this years RBZ Tour TP is a beast!  Glad I bought into it sooner instead of later. The  "stage 2" looks awful in the pictures.

Stupid people with with an agenda against TM. Many of these are people with associations or connections to two Carlsbad competitors. I have clubs from these companies (along with other OEMS), I play a mixed set with more TMs but some people will only play a certain name and wear a certail hat without really knowing what is best. So with them it is only about the brand and not about what is best throughout the set.

Same thing I heard.  It's hard to think that the new fwys will be longer than the current RBZ line though...

I thought that was a pic of the R1?  Isn't he referring to the RBZ2?

Not a good design by TaylorMade IMO. Maybe they will advertise that the R1 has a compass built in to help find your lost balls after staring at the hideous graphics. Sure looks like a compass lol.

Jeez you people have gone a bit mental lately.  The only reason you can think of for people disliking an ugly club is some sort of pro-titleist conspiracy? How about people dislike ugly clubs and massive marketing departments?  That maybe make a bit more sense?

Do you think these other companies don't spend big marketing dollars? Titleist (who you named) has a huge budget. This year with their new ownership has stepped up their TV spending substantially. They are even doing Vokey TV commercials now. What Acushnet (Titleist/Footjoy) spends on 300+ ball/shoe/glove contracts around the world is marketing dollars, and it is more than everyone else combinedfor these things. Let's get real here.

Right, so how does all of that make ones opinion that this clearly ugly club is ugly, somehow invalid?

I am not referring to an opinion of what is ugly and what isn't with my comments. I was clearly only referencing dislike of a company based on marketing which some people think is bigger budgeted than others. It really isn't much bigger, more successful obviously if people think that they spend a lot more money. They are getting more for their money based on those thoughts.
As for what looks good is in the eye of the beholder. I will not fully comment on the R1 until I address a ball and tee it up. I criticized them when the white heads came out, thinking it would be distracting. Five minute with the club totally changed my mind and I have the guts to admit it. So I will reserve judgment and not base anything on these photos. I know a lot of actresses and models. Some of them are prettier in person and others are really the opposite.

I still don't understand.  People said the driver is ugly and you tell them to reserve judgement until they hit it.  No one said it is a terrible club because it's ugly, they simply said it's ugly.  To reply to that with: "Well how could you say that without hitting it" is just not really addressing the topic at hand.   People can say its ugly without hitting it because they looked at it.

What is the issue with ugly??? The graphics on the R1 may help alignment? How can anyone judge these drivers before they get the chance to try them? If they work better for me, I will line up and order one..I really don't care about the graphics, I can always send it to my friends at Continental Golf and have it refinished.
