One of the players (Steve Allan from Australia) had this in his bag.  The Adams Reps were working to get him into a new Adams hybrid.

I remember having the entire set of woods. Pretty incredible that a "pro" is still effectively using this aged technology.

Nice capture. That's a good example of sticking with an old faithful. Many newer hybrid designs resemble that head now that I look at it, the Razr line is one that comes to mind, at least in terms of the look from address.

I still have my Burner Bubble Shafted Driver and 3wd that I used when I was a hack in college.

I was thinking about re-gripping the 3wd and putting into play over the winter.

"If it works" is always a good philosophy. Remember, the touring pro generally isn't looking for more length, forgiveness or assistance in stopping a slice, etc. If he has a club that must go, for example, 180 yards every time, and he or she has confidence in that club, it is a good club. It may be dated or fugly, but probably works for that player. I doubt he is keeping it for sentimental reasons or to orchestrate whispers on a tee box.

If I remember correctly TM said that it transferred energy from the shaft to the club head. I think this was like 94-95 when these came out as I was about a sophomore.

Ha, ha. There WAS no point. TM marketed that way back in the day, too. People knew it was bs even then, but bought it anyway as it was slightly less expensive than the Callaway Biggest Big Bertha, which was the top stick at the time. Graphite was still more or less a "mystery" substance at that time. Those two drivers were pretty much the start of graphite shafts as stock options.

They kept the bubble shaft for one more iteration - FireSole, which was about the same thing with a "redder" aesthetic. I think that was also the point where they permanently switched to titanium. The original Bubble series had smaller, steel heads. I started with one of those, then moved to the Ti Bubble 2. Eh, memory blurs back then. I just remember that my nasty old Top-Flite driver was an improvement. lol

Holy crap, the Ti Bubble 2. I remember that. Guy on my high school golf team got a new set of sticks one year. All TM. The Ti Bubble 2 was the driver (duh) and he had new TalorMade irons with BUBBLE SHAFTS in them. That's right, whole set of irons with the wonderful bubble shafts. That was great.

Oh, the horror continues. About three years ago, I was in a tournament long drive competition and was set to win. Dude steps up with an old Burner Bubble driver (not even the Ti Bubble 2) and catches it dead low on the face. Spent literally about the same time on the ground as it did in the air, and rolls it 3-4 yards past me. Come to find out he had only been playing about a year, and that was his longest hit to that point. Most of the rest of the clubs in his bag were from Wally world.

There isn't a FACE/PALM emoticon big enough for that experience.
