I'm a used rack PIMP!  Never look at new stuff.  When I go to Houston, I have my golf shop rotation set!  Exit freeway, hit Golf Galaxy.  Check.  Go around corner; Edwin Watts.  Check.  Loop around to other side of freeway: Golfsmith.  Sales people know me by face so they just speak because they know where I'm headed.  Most will give you something off used stuff because they made a killing on trade.  Well, except Golfsmith.  With their 90/90 trade in plan, most of their prices are still high.

Ah, yes...you bring up a good point. The stuff that they receive back as part of their playability guarantee isn't allowed to be reduced anymore. Anything else is fair game. It's nice though that more and more stores are popping up and you can stalk the racks that are within close proximity to each other.

Dang it! You're not helping my hoing ways! Now I may go on a hunt for a Ping Anser Milled putter and possibly a 3 wood.

Btw, HTTR.

Definitely seen a few Anser milled's at the Tysons and Sterling Golfsmiths as of late. HTTR!

Used Cleveland Mashie 18* wood with Miyazaki Tour Issue Kusala shaft in R flex.  $35.99
Not sure if its a Kusala Blue or White.  (I will post a picture tonight after I clean the dirt filled head off).

I went into Golf Galaxy today looking for a deep faced fairway wood to hit from the tee.
I'm not a long hitter so typically a 3, 4 or 5 wood all go about the same distance for me (within a few yards).
Saw this gem on the used rack and was destroying it.  It's only an 18* but was going further than the 3 woods I tested it against.
Gotta love a premium shaft.

I figured even if I don't care for the Mashie head on the course, I will put the Kusala in my K15 5w as I need a bit firmer feeling shaft anyway in it.

My buddy has a set of MB's that rusted (not nearly that bad) and the rust color oxidation is discoloring his headcovers on his woods and getting on his whiteout black grips, et.  It's a mess.  He is trying to dump them.  He keeps cleaning and oiling them.

Which Golfsmiths and Golf Galaxys are you shopping at?  The locations here in MN have a total of 5 sets of irons and they are all garbage and really overpriced.

MB2's for $200?!?  Thats unreal.

Lucky guys, you have racks to look at (?).  I live about 70 miles from the nearest golf shop in Albuquerque, NM and it isn't Golf Galaxy or Golf Smith.  It is a local owned and they don't have that much stuff, so the bargains are slim.  i did get lucky and find a very slightly used R11 last summer for a friend of mine.  It was $120 with head cover and tool out the door.  He (a 20 hdcp) opted to buy a new R11S, likes new I guess, to each their own.  I ended up selling it to another guy for $135, making $15 for my troubles.  I do like to browse the racks when I go to big cities such as Denver and Phoenix.  Maybe it is a blessing in disguise that I don't have one near as I would probably spend more and be in even MORE trouble with the Mrs!

ive only been golfing for 3 months so i'm a newb...however, i am true ho at heart! Stopped by the local CC today where i got married  8 years ago to talk to the pro about lessons and while i was there, saw they had a sign saying they were blowing out there demo's...happened to have a Ping i20 9.5 Project X 6.0 and the sole and face were perfect and there was a tiny scratch on the crown, towards the back of the club. I asked him how much and he said it's a $349 club...how's $120! Now, i dont know much about this type of equipment, but i couldnt pass it up...this club looks like it's been played maybe 2 rounds...did i do alright? i figure i wont be able to hit this club now since i'm still learning and will be taking lessons this winter but could be a GREAT find for me in the next couple of years. At least i know i can get my money back...got the old wifey stink eye though...looks like ill be getting a sitter and taking her for dinner tomorrow night! LOL

I finally had to break down and start a golf club ho fund.  Saved up some over time cash, birthday money, etc..  Now I use that for my purchases.  It's much better than "the stink eye" look.

Maryland and Virginia. I will say this though; I would love to be in the Texas, Arizona, and Florida areas. I would imagine some pretty cool stuff filters in. I've heard stories of tour issued gear making it's way to the used racks.

Akron / Cleveland, OH area.  The Golfsmith in Warrensville Heights has an unreal amount of used clubs.  Although most are overpriced, but every now and then there are some deals.  The Golf Galaxy's by us have less selection but their prices are typically decent.

The worst feeling ever: finding a score on the used rack and then seeing the crown and seeing it looks like someone ran it over with their golf cart :black eye:

Yea in MN we have the dreaded 2nd Swing.  They have an amazing selection of used clubs, including a nice section of Tour Issued and other choice items but it is all EXTREMELY overpriced and they eat up all of the trade ins even though their trade in values are a JOKE.

Its too bad because I like the guys that work there and they seem like WRX type of guys.  I know they have a business to run but its a shame to see all of that sweet gear just sit on the rack when I would gladly put it in play if I could get JoeClothing pricing.

OH BABY! Do it....jussssst do it! I've been eyeing some ebay auctions and New sets have sold for under $400. You could probably score a pretty nice used set for $300 or so.
Just a hunch but I would bet this will be the last "raw" set of irons produced by an OEM. Adams I'm sure has had a bunch of complaints from buyers not knowing how to deal with the rusting. It's a hassle I'm sure and not worth all the headache for them to deal with customer complaints. PVD and Satin are much easier finishes to deal with.
So my advice is find a nice set and enjoy them. These are probably the most interesting set of irons you'll ever see in someone's bag. Now, I just need to find a set of raw wedges to pair with them. :slow_en:

They sound like a big hassle, you should just get out while you're ahead and sell them to me for $250.

Well, so much for the "racks" part of the conversation. This is thread is SO not what I'd hoped it would be.
